Great tips, thank you! QUESTION: How many inches off the bottom to you trim the leaves? ❤
@TheBackGardenYard
@TheBackGardenYard Жыл бұрын
Great question. It depends on the plant. I don't think trimming pepper leaves is nearly as important as trimming tomato leaves, but you have to get all the ones touching the ground, and any that are shading the suckers. I usually don't trim until the plants are blooming and bearing. I wouldn't trim more than half way up the plant, and usually about 1/4 the way up. Thanks for watching.

Is it okay to add the fertilizer in June? We're in zone 7b, and its hot, humid & rainy here right now. I've always been told Not to fertilize in the summer. Thank you, sir, for your great video!

It's absolutely ok to fertilize in June. I made the video on June 20th and I fertilized and got rain the next 2 days. My peppers are absolutely dark green and lush and loaded with fruits now. I don't know where some of these myths come from. You do need them blooming good before fertilizing though. Thanks for watching

Lovely, lush garden. Thank you for the tips. I live in coastal western Canada and have trouble gettingnpeppers to grow well unless they are in a greenhouse.

Yea, I buy it in a 50 lb bag and 1 bag lasts about 2 to 3 years in the garden. I also have a yard, and that uses much more fertilizer than the garden, as I use the Evergreen Compost and Manure that I buy at Lowes in each of my transplanting holes also. Good luck with your crop. Thanks for watching.

Thank you for the nice comments. No harm done if you topped your peppers, it just slows down the growth in my opinion. Thanks for watching

Thank you! I like the rebar idea. Would love to find some even taller! Like 6 ft for tomatoes etc .

Another viewer informed me that those are electric fence poles available at Tractor Supply. I need fence posts for tomatoes, as I use fence for trellis. Don't think the rebar would get the job done, but I'm always open to try new things...

Like one of the comments below, I also topped my pepper plants. DARN!!!!. Maybe I can still get a nice crop. I do have blooms. Would you share your fertilizer? Thank you so much for this great advise.

If you topped the peppers, it's totally ok. In my opinion all it does is slow down the growth a bit, but they will still do fine. I just don't see the need to top them, as they naturally spread out at the top if healthy. 10-10-10 is the fertilizer, my bad for not saying it on the video. Thanks for watching.

@@dustyflats3832 I have found from visiting farms and friends as far North as New York and Pennsylvania, that the pepper growing season is long enough to make a nice harvest of peppers, especially if the plants are started in a greenhouse or bought from a garden center. My 2 cents...
