I believe that you may the best Long Sword player on YT. In casting aside all armor and skills but Quick Sheathe, it shows a mastery of a given monster - knowing the hit-boxes for each of its moves, its tells, possibly even its exact AI script, while positioning and timing your counters to perfection. As a result, you're killing the monster faster than many players loaded up on "meta" skills can - myself included. And the fact that you had the patience to do this 260+ times is amazing as well. I'm not an LS main, but my hat is off to you.

Risen Valstrax always gives me so much trouble, even when I use LS which has been my main since I started playing all the way back in 3U, and here you are absolutely demolishing it with a fraction of what I do. This video right here though shows me I just need to change my perspective in how I fight him, you have so much patience and you know what to wait for and when, it's super impressive that you did that entire fight without taking damage from him even once

He used tempered spirit blade. A counter switch skill where if you counter using it, you gain a spirit level.

Tempered Spirit Blade can be used to counter and level up the Spirit Gauge immediately, moreover it has hyper armor so that it’s easier to activate skills like Adrenaline.

I swear Quick Sheathe is the equivalent to Graze, Risen CG Valstrax can hit you with the Dragon beam but your Graze goes up by 60 if you time it. Great run, too!

God damn. You're a legend at this stuff., Im not sure if im doing something wrong, but ive been trying to use the longsword for a few days now. And the sheath+parry never runs this smoothly for me, even if im dead certain i attack at the correct time, i get knocked out of it every time. Even on roars :(

Try going to training area and set this big toad robot attack to projectile - then try to counter them with special sheathe. You will learn the timing for that counter pretty fast ^^ then try countering stomps and next - monsters you know best. Be patient and calm, you can do it.

It takes a lot of practice man, don’t get discouraged. It took me probably 100 hours to feel like I was getting decent at it tbh. You need a lot of monster knowledge and timing, and it’s tough learning how to chain counters together. I have put in over 1k hrs with longsword now and I still feel the need to improve and keep getting better, the skill ceiling is very high.

@@ensanesane Tigrex or Rathian. I also like Barioth, he’s a pretty good matchup for longsword and has a lot of moves that are easy to counter. He also has a Nargacuga like tail stomp>sweep that will teach you how to chain counters together rapidly

Can you apply this on 30FPS ? I get hit sometime despite the right timing No matter what I do even with quick sheath my character doesn’t respond that fast I think the FPS the reason why I play on Xbox one so maybe the leaking of pc keyboard is the also reason ?, I really want you to test this out your skill on console and low FPS with tv rather then monitor but if you don’t have console you can just do the FPS challenge with console control instead, Sound like good challenge for you skill if you ask me would accept it ? .

Should be perfectly doable on 30 FPS; Switch players were doing crazy stuff in this game before it released to other platforms. There's even some advantages to playing at 30FPS such as less hit-lag and slightly quicker animations on some weapons.

Does having buddies and followers make doing the counters more difficult because you arent the only target? I have trouble doing them because 1) im dumb and screwing it up anyways and 2) i try and counter something that didnt end up targeting me anyways.

This is just from my experience with lvl 200 anomaly Rajang. you can do it with buddies but followers tend to do their own thing and can cause the monster to fight outside of harvest moon, anyway if you bring a palamute set the behavior to "Follow" and most importantly put a "Diversion" skill on your build. Diversion works fine on buddies but not for other players (the skill description is somewhat misleading)
