📄¬This is a serious situation that demands immediate attention as a supernova is a highly powerful explosion that occurs when a star collapses due to running out of fuel. If such an event were to occur to our Sun, it could cause significant harm to the Earth, and have serious consequences for all forms of life on our planet.

I was beginning to worry that the threat was being underplayed, until you went and destroyed the Earth at the end. That is what a supernova would do. Of course, our sun is too small to possess the energy capable of making a real supernova or a black hole, but it is still an interesting concept.

For a end of the world story this has a surprisingly uplifting ending. My head canon to this is that the reason that any of this footage would still exist after this disaster would be that the ship that brought the human embryos to Proxima Centauri received transmissions from earth, in order to teach the future humans not to repeat the mistakes of their earth ancestors. It would be rather interesting if given a very long time these humans became another species entirely, and if said species who might be advanced in their own way, with their own religions and cultures, still retained and believed at least some of the traditions and faiths of earth, eventually traveled back to the edge of what was left of the solar system and found the golden record. It would be sort of ironic is the aliens that recovered Voyager and the pioneer probes were in fact, simply distant descendants of ourselves. I bet if that happened after studying them, they would send the spacecraft back on their way, so that another civilization might know of the legacy of earth.
@ghostreaper100100
@ghostreaper100100 Жыл бұрын
This was actually similar sounding to a short story I read not to long ago. Where aliens had abducted humans in the past, causing them to eventually evolve into their own species over the hundreds of years they were away from earth and to realize they and the human race are the same species once humanity finally makes its way to the stars and they come into contact again
@lucasquintanilla1673

@@ghostreaper100100 are you referencing the book man after man? If so, I found it to be an interesting concept, although personally, if I had been the one to write it, I would’ve had it occur a little bit differently. That said, regardless of whether or not, it’s the same book the concept you mentioned is what I personally think would be the end result of this scenario. The descendants of the embryos that were sent to one of the neighboring stars, eventually evolve into different species that are sentient and Wood regard themselves to be human in someways, even if they eventually would more accurately be described as posthumans. Part of the reason that I assumed that at least some of the faiths would still be around, would be that there was a slight religious and philosophical undertone to parts of this scenario, which I suppose, is vaguely reminiscent to how there was a little bit of a religious undertones to the 1953 film adaptation of war of the worlds. Regardless, as someone who has studied a bit of theology and religious philosophy, it would be interesting how posthumans would in this scenario reconcile the events of the destruction of earth, and the original humanity with their religions.

Oh my god, this is so chilling! I know that a Supernova event is nearly impossible with our star, but this is still such an amazing concept! The videos getting more choppy and distorted as the event begins is so creepy, and the people screaming at the top of their lungs as the sun explodes is terrifying, even if we'd be fried immediately. But I also like how there's a little bit of hope with the Log Registration. Most Pandora/Hazard events destroy us so thoroughly that there's not even a chance for humanity to survive, but this feels almost like the set up for a sci-fi adventure novel as the first generation explore the only world they can call home. Amazing scenario, Atlas Fallout Foundation!

It IS impossible, supernovas are really only done by larger stars (unless our star were to collide with another, which is so extraordinarily unlikely we may as well say it is impossible)
@HoloShaii
@HoloShaii Жыл бұрын
Not just nearly, it's fully impossible unless we'd add more solar masses worth of matter to it. Not just that, a supernova this close to the planet wouldn't just burn the planet sterile, it would completely vaporize the planet, no screams, no seconds of recording, nothing, all would be vaporized the moment the blast hits. Best part? No suffering either.

Well done. I would say though if a supernova occurred there'd be nothing we can do but HAUL out of the solar system, as the supernova would char the entire system. Even if we flee though we're 90% dead. Not to mention our star does not have enough energy potential nor mass to throw off violently.
@bradleypoe6846
@bradleypoe6846 Жыл бұрын
Yup. The lack of realistic references really did it for me too. Our sun's neither big enough or old enough to run out of fusion fuel, but if it were? There's a known process by which fusion hits the end of its viability. It's been posted to Wikipedia even. Basically each step towards the end accelerates things exponentially, and it's detectable through spectral analysis. We'd know when we'd have days, when we'd have hours (when elements fuse into silicon) and when we'd have minutes (when silicon fuses into iron and nickel). So even if the sun didn't go through an accelerated Red Giant Phase and vaporize the Earth first, before dying--and it would--we'd still see this coming and know exactly when we were going to die. Edit: To be clear this is a decent video as usual but. . . I just didn't think the lack of realism was, I don't know. Maybe it was deliberately done (in narrative) to prevent mass panics and suicides?

@@bradleypoe6846 well think about it. You think the shuttle that was launched at the end of the vid was made in one day? They knew waaay before. @@_wayward_494 Yeah, it was late at night at my end when I wrote that. The more I think about it, the more I get it that NASA and others just didn't tell all they knew, so they'd have time for the shuttle launch to clear the solar system at least a little, or something. And here I was expecting a "Florida Man on the Emergency Broadcast System" just telling people: "Oh, it's a supernova. Our SUN dying explosively. We're all dead. Stick a straw in, we're done. Make peace with God, etc." And then people scrambling to censor or otherwise erase that.

Not to ruin this scenario, but for those who may be genuinely afraid of the sun going supernova, don't be. Our sun is apparently too small to go nova, as it would need to be 10, 100 times its size to do so. The fate our sun has will be that it simply expands into a red giant and then shrinks back into a white dwarf, and finally, when all the sun's little bits of energy are gone, it becomes a black dwarf. Again, not to sound all smartass or something, just thought to leave this here for those who don't know. Anyhow, great scenario. I hope we can see some more like this in the future.

I lol'd at the first UK message where she said "cause significant harm to the earth and have serious consequences for all forms of life on our planet" lol. That's quite literally the end of the world, the whole solar system.

It usually takes up to three days for a solar flare to reach Earth, but if the sun is supernoving, it might take hours.

Hey remember at the end of the eas where the sun expanded? This might either be a sequel or a slightly different timeline where the sun didn't expand, and they still made project E.S.C.

the sun cant go supernova. problem with some of these senarios is that they are too out there for there to be any suspension of disbeleif which destroys the immerson. i only like these when they are technically possible. beetlejuice gammaray burst would have been much better

How do you want to start an incubation process on a planet also affected by Sun's supernova? Supernova extends to like 50 LY.

A Supernova would annihilate Earth, how does Earth manage to survive? I'm just assuming because in the Log Registration part it states that the "communication systems have been activated, sending a report back to Earth". Great video though!

If an extraterrestrial species wanted the resources of our local area of the galaxy without dealing with the life that may be there, they could use technology and physics completely unknown to us to drive a local star near the centre of their desired area to go supernova and completely sterilise several hundred light-years around their chosen star in one shot. In this particular instance it just happened to be our star that was targeted. This is basically impossible under known physics, but we don't know anywhere close to enough about physics to completely rule out such a scenario. Great work, as always!

Hey , once again, great job, here's extra feedback Really liked the different types of recording featured and not just plain BBEEEEP BEEP ALERT Not quite sure what tts you are using, but if possible learn to use the sentiment thing, voices were a bit monotone Regarding the interference, modern data transmission getting messed would look a bit different from sattelite tv times, look up datamoshing Also warping the edges to reinforce that crt look would be nice Edit: absolutely loved the ending, hope we get to meet that colony in hundreds of years, hell that feels like stellaris origin material, an idea would be earth human ships making it there and cleverly hiding it as a far future scenario with so many changes that it's justified by time and geopolitics, but along the way drop some subtle hints it's not earth humans, like mentioning the suns instead of sun
