Lama Tidak Menggunakan Perahu Drum Plastik Saya, Padahal Sudah Saatnya Naik Dok, Tahun Kemarin Untuk Pertama Kalinya Docking, Sekarang Sudah Memasuki Tahun Kedua, Kelihatan Sudah Banyak Kayu Yang Lapuk. Semoga Saja Nanti Saya Mendapatkan Rejeki Lebih, Untuk Biaya Docking 🤲😃

Another nice day on the water. Yes where I live the Sun and tropical weather are also not kind to paint and woodwork. Dock fees since COVID ended are very expensive too and they seem to raise them every month. You can spend $500 to almost $2,000 a month for docking your boat now so many are now mooring them out in public waters instead and use a small light kayak that you can carry in one hand to row out to them. @@MustaqimMuhammadHatta That is painful to consider in such a short time. Better than $1,000 though. Here $100 will get you a few feet of marine grade lumber or around 1 gallon of marine grade paint. Being elderly and retired I understand having to wait to save up for a repair. Best!

@@MustaqimMuhammadHatta Is Iron Wood the same as Mesua Ferrea or Cobra Saffron? They use that for railroad ties and similar so it should last a good long time in a boat. I understand that it is very difficult to saw. Best!

​@@neilfromclearwaterfl81 yes, very similar. Iron wood (ulin) is very strong and durable, with strength class I and durable class I having a specific gravity of 1.04. Ironwood (ulin) is resistant to attacks by termites and stem borer insects, resistant to changes in humidity and temperature and also resistant to sea water. This wood is very difficult to nail and saw but is easy to split. This is the most expensive wood, and is almost extinct where I live. must bring in from outside the province 😁

Mau bertanya sedikit tentang pembuatan perahu plastik,,dgn kondisi sungai deras dangkal banyak bebatuan dan kayu yg sering bersentuhan langsung dgn perahu,,,kalau lunasnya sebela bawa luar drum kayanya ngk cocok karna sesikit kandas pasti akan miring,,karna perahu area sini tk cocok besar2,,,bukaan paling 60 pai 80 cm kapenya,,,,na misal kalau perahu drum plastik ini di buat lunasnya dari atas atau sebela dalam dari biasanya gimna bang,,cara buatnya,,,tutorial dong kalau bisa,,😊😊😊😊

Bisa sih bang, cuma untuk nimba airnya nanti yang susah bang... nyangkut2 nanti nya... itu yg jadi pertimbangan... saran saya gadingnya saja yang dibuat lebih rapat, biasa saya gunakan jarak 40cm-50cm, abang bisa buat jarak 20cm-30cm bang 😃👍

@DariusJuman-yp3go - I have been considering that for some time now. My thought is that would require plastic welding to make up the keel or perhaps better would be to make a form and cast the keel from melted down plastic drums. Perhaps even try to cast the keel to the hull and make it into one seamless piece. I've been trying to learn plastic welding over the past few years and it can be difficult to get the temperature right to get a good weld without burning the plastic or making it brittle. At least its been difficult with the inexpensive equipment I can afford. Repairs to tool housings, recoil starter spools and small appliances have plastic welded with good results but I am not 100% comfortable yet about welding up a boat for use in rough water at my current skill level. @@MustaqimMuhammadHatta Fiberglass resin is very expensive and does require more safety precautions. You will need a NOSH respirator at the least and watch out for some of the materials that smell very nice like sweet honeysuckle making you want to breath in the deadly poison more deeply. Working with the fiberglass mat is worse to me than working with fiberglass insulation and sanding/grinding creates dust that is bad for everyone nearby so you need a very good dust collection system. I have lost good friends from the Fibrosis of the Lungs breathing the dust can cause. It's a very sad day when you have to be a witness to their wishes being carried out by their wife as she turns off the lung machine and then wait for them to fall asleep in death. I hope you never get to experience that personally. If you do start experimenting with resin and glass mat please be certain to follow the safety rules for yourself and your family. Best!
