My teacher taught me to do the original number minus the other number and then absolute value the value we get. Then we divided the value we got by the original number. In other words both of these ways are exactly the same.

I’ve used a separate but similar method by dividing the amount of change by original number multiplied by 100 which whould give the same answer (I just found this method faster)

Queen bee that's apart of the formula. She didn't write out the whole formula. Its actually New Value - Original Value / Original Value x 100 (new value minus original value divided by original value times 100)

Queen bee: You want to determine the difference between the two numbers in order to figure you the percentage of increase in that difference. You wouldn't find the difference if you added those two numbers. you must find the difference by subtracting one number from the other.

Or you could do it % increase = increase x 100/original value So 330x100/110 which would equal 33000 divided by 110, which would equal a 300% increase. Whatever's easier!

How could non of Yall catch this? Her answer is wrong it is an increase of 25%. 110 suppose to get divided into 440 to give you .25, then you move that decimal over two spaces to the right, or multiply times 100 to give you 25%

That's incorrect. You're only finding the percentage of 110 out of 440. So 110 is 25% of 440.
