Hi I have a question about 11:33 How come you can connect the 1 dotted square with the top of the 2 dotted square and with the top of the 5 dotted square? Wouldn't that break the rule of not being able to pair up squares that are 180 degrees?
@tanytansters2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I have this same question. It doesn't make sense.
@mentaldental Жыл бұрын
Pairing the tops of the 2-dot square and 5-dot square together would break the rule of 180 degrees, those two sides cannot touch each other. However, what you are referring in 11:33 is an entirely different concept. Connecting the 1-dot square to the top of the 2-dot and 5-dot squares is a natural extension of the side pairing technique. Once you pair up all of the corners (blue lines), you then pair up the next available sides (orange lines) on either end of those paired corners and essentially "rainbow" out from there until all sides are matched with another side. Every side HAS to have a side it connects with, otherwise you wouldn't have an intact 3D object. This is shown in the solution at 13:07.

Apparently, this is a type of intelligence (spatial reasoning) that is commonly overlooked in children. These questions are easy for me as I'm able to rotate the objects mentally. In school I was uninspired and uninterested in math until I took physics. I was suddenly magically good at a subject I never been exposed to, and this was late in high school. The nature of physics magically made the math intelligible. I ended up going to school for Engineering and only found the math heavy classes to be difficult. Basically, what I want to say is that a kid with this type of intelligence needs to be exposed to physics, and the true nature of math (not the BS taught in schools) as early as possible. It might change their lives. God Bless.

I got confused at 8:04. Update: I have moved past my confusion at this point in the video. I am amazed that some people can immediately "see" the patterns.
@mentaldental3 жыл бұрын
I'm glad you worked through your confusion! Remember these PAT games require lots of repetition, and with practice you can get better and better at seeing patterns.

so in 11:22 why 1 "right side" not sharing with 5 instead and 1 "down side" not sharing with 2 instead? I mean here there is no clear rule to follow like the 90 degree rule right? DO not get that ?

Hello! thank you so much for these videos! they are helping me so much. I have a question, at @11:27 of the video, when doing the side pairing on the outer cubes, how do we know that cube '1' shares with '5' . why does cube face '6' not share with either cube face '5' or '2'?
@LUCA-xv2sq6 ай бұрын
Imagine you are rotating the square number 4 with the square number 6 and 1 attached to it. Then you will have squares 5,2,4,6 in a straight line with square 1 at 90degree from them, you can then role the square 1 until it reach the corner with 5 and 2.
