I have a feeling the reason Percival is “ruthless” is because he trusts his abilities. He can take and give life at will so he’s so he’s not afraid to end life. If he wanted he could bring it back. He’s growing into a more neutral spirit, once joyful and wanting life and good, weary about taking life bc he wanted friends. But now knows death and life are equally in his hand at his will.

I feel like Nakaba is trying to parallel Percival and Meliodas with their demeanors after they came back from being “dead”. Meliodas became more sinister when he came back because he lost his emotions after being killed. I don’t wanna say Percival became more sinister per say after coming back, but the fact that he was about to go through with killing someone, who wasn’t even that bad of a person all things considered, with no hesitation is pretty crazy. A very stark contrast to how he used to be 2 years ago. Not sure what happened to Percival while he was” dead”, but he definitely has developed a darker side to him that I think will be interesting to explore

@@TheGreekWeeb My theory is that since Percival used to kinda avoid killing people, that mindset has evolved after learning who he is and everything he can do. Maybe death (of an enemy) as long it's at Percival's hands (or, well, his death spell), has flipped and actually become the easiest/cleanest/safest way to end a fight without risking collateral damage and sparing the all the sadness it involves for those who knew their opponent. I suspect he can bring back someone whose, essentially, "state of life or death" he has controlled using that spell (or maybe he can just heal people who aren't fully departed). This means that instead of avoiding killing, he prefers wielding his power over life/death to bring about a quick end to a fight, and only does this because of how much control he gained over his abilities while learning from the life spirits, and can (presumably) either "cancel" the process that is killing them which them back to life, or he can outright use the reverse of the spell and they return to life.

Percival definitely has changed in the past he try to avoid killing it all possible, but now it's seems he going for the kill quickly I think this happened because one he either has been influenced by other life spirit while outside if his body and lost some piece of the humanity he acquired from his grandfather or he was told that if he want to avoid a dark future for his friends he needs to be the to get his hands dirty

Since im Christian I've been researching and reading on the book of revelations which talks about the four horsemen of the apocalypse. This might share some insight on the show/manga of 4koa. Im going to list the 4 knights in order of their respective roles from start finish and tell you what they are meant to do according to the bible: Knight/horseman of pestilence: He rides a white horse and is also known as the Knight of conquest. He will conquer the world by bringing destruction and plagues to the people and lands of the world. He also characterized as the antichrist Knight/horseman of war: He rides a red horse which symbolises bloodshed, which he will bring. Once pestilence or conquest has conquered the world, the knight of war will bring war to people and kill a third of humanity Horseman/knight of famine: He rides a black horse which symbolises emptiness, voidence and lack, and to lack is to suffer like when you lack nutrition you are hungry and you suffer from it. Famine brings lack of food and water to bring great suffering of the body Horseman/knight of death: He rides a pale-green horse, he is the most powerful of them all, once the other knights have brought about their plagues the knight of death will be the final verdict of judgement that will bring death to the world I'm going to list the knights from strongest to weakest according to the Bible: Death War Pestilence/conquest Famine

I'd like to think that at some point all 4 knights will be equal in power so it can avoid the power scale issue with the sins We see why Lance and Percival are the knights of war and death, respectively but not Tristan and Gawain. Gawain is always hungry for sweets but how is it a doom-bringer? And Tristan can't cure curses or disease but again... why is Camelot to fear that title?

@theanimeunderworld8338 my theory (although not completely full proof) concerning Gawain and Tristan is that since Tristan is a descendant of the goddess and demon race and grandson of two the "God's" he will have the power to bring blessings and curses and by curses I think he will bring destruction to Camelot because that's the role of pestilence(to destroy) similar to how in the Bible, where God brings 10 plagues to Egypt. And as for Gawain I'm not entirely sure what her role will be, but I have a theory based on symbolism. I think with the grace of sunshine and her vast knowledge of magic her magic power will be so great that her enemies will hunger(metaphorically) for it, but they will not have it, thus famine. My other theory about her is that she will be the cause of suffering greater than that of the body, mind, soul and spirit, because symbolically and generally famine is to cause suffering through lack of something commonly and/or metaphorically food and water

Having watched the entire vid: You know, it would follow from his initial avoidance of killing, now that he has such control over death, he would want to end fights quickly to limit the amount of people hurt. Use the death spell on the enemy, and in cases like this where the person isn't actually an enemy, he can reverse it afterwards. Problem solved without having to use the 'old fashioned' method of fighting which genuinely leaves people dead and often catches others as collateral damage. I've gotta say, it's been set up pretty well with regards to balance - Chaos power can keep Arthur's main guys from being one-shot by the death spell, so it's not like the other 3 knights are obsolete now. They will need all of their eventually revealed abilities working together to accomplish their goal. I'm sure we'll see some good old 7DS-type boss-jumping combo attacks My takes, currently at the first part of the video: - Lmao, "Dareth", really? - "Tantris", you have a contender for the also-happening "dumb name tournament" - lol he brought a ghost to a fight with a life spirit. This isn't going to end well for him. Edit: annnnd there it is. LOL. What a great "NO U". Dareth instakills him, so he returns the favor. I don't think that was a 'genjutsu'. I think Percival just murdered that guy right there lol, then brought him back. I think it was said originallly that Percival can only bring himself back not others, but that was before he even knew he was a life spirit. The fact that he went from simply reviving when people have hope (and healing people), to being able to say a couple of words and make you drop dead (unless you've got Chaos propping you up) means it's not impossible that he learned to bring people back too if they're not fully gone (perhaps Dareth gave up just in time, Gareth wasn't fully gone, and Percival could restore his life) or maybe even if Percival was the one to kill them, he can reverse it.

Maybe and BIG maybe, Mystery Package is Lancelot. By this point, the news of Percival's return would have Ban through Meliodas and/or King and he would inform Lancelot, along with his mission. While not fully convinced, he goes there to provide support and get back Tristan as well. With him shapeshifting and acting as a different person. Also, it would make sense for him to be there since Percival, Gawain and the others are getting weapons during the tournament and him not getting when it's fresh out of the forge wouldn't sit right.

I feel like percivals story arc going forward is gonna resemble that of Meliodas's story arc from 7ds. Theres definitely something at work here thats slowly taling away his humanity until he becomes the absolute embodiment of death similar to what happened with Meliodas losing his through dieing. But it's pretty crazy to imagine another player out there besides Chaos and its remaining child, the Fairy Tree. (Zeldris is the Demon King, but the original DK was the one created by Chaos). It could be that this one is less of an entity and more of the collection/sum of the spiritual side/life force of the life that arose as a result of the creation of of the realms. If Chaos led to Demons/Goddesses/Fairies and giants came from what, the planet itself? (I can't remember lol ) then what was the root source of humanity? - Did they come straight from Chaos? (an option because of the connection between Chaos and Arthur building a human ethnostate lol) - Were they a side effect of creation, and they were never exactly planned by any one particular entity? - Did "life" become its own "thing" (e.g. entity) in the form of life spirits, and humans and animals were created by "life" itself? Or a darker twist on it: - Did "mortality" come into existence as its own thing, and when Percival was called "part" of it as a life spirit, that was acknowledging the two sides to mortality, life and death

One of the things that makes this chapter so foreboding is the fact that it really feels like Percival didn't need to do any of that. He was winning with gherkin and his regular magic. He just had a new sword to avoid or disarm from the dude and he proceeded to hit this man with some dark ass genjutsu. And you mentioned the seen where his friends are looking at him and he's not showing his face. I also like at the end of the chapter it shows that he's a winner and it of his back... Did this rattle him? Did he get a sick kick of it? Did it legitimately scare the life out of him. We don't know... And I love that

​@@TheGreekWeeb Right now, it's something like:: - Percival's apparent outright control over someone's life force (+ self revival, versatile mini percivals and aura constructs, healing physical/psychological damages, etc) - Gawain's strength (in larger form at least), her very suspiciously Escanor-like sun powers, and magic which Merlin seems to have ensured that she be taught - Tristan's ability to draw from the strengths of both Goddess and Demon (with his parents being the strongest Demon and one of the strongest Goddesses) along with using varying combinations of the two powers, etc along with the powers of his swords - Lancelot's mysterious powers gained from even more-mysterious training, inherent Fairy abilities (inc. basically passively being able to hear opponents' thoughts), top-tier combat ability and combat analysis ("battle IQ") + their incoming delivery of Sacred Treasure -level weapons (maybe using these will allow them to use abilities related to their "true natures" like Percival was able to after his return) But they're fighting the literal god of their universe. Arguably, the most OP thing on the list is Percival's instakill, which has already been countered by Chaos during the Fairy Realm arc. Their timeskip selves may be able to pull off a win against Arthur's "Evils" (yeah I know you like "Perils" but the idea of "good guy" Arthur having a group of lieutenants with "Evils" in their title is just too amusing to not use it) but they have zero chance against Arthur himself. Put the 7DS in their with them. Zero chance against Arthur himself. I think we still have to see the TRUE special power of Gawain, Tristan and Lancelot, and probably more lore on elements of the world unmentioned by 7DS (life spirits being an example so far) before being able to believe that the Four Knights can take down Arthur the reality-warper. Cath showed that you only need a minor piece of Chaos within you and you cannot be permanently killed, so other forces need to come into play.

Lol I wouldn't be too surprised, just like with the Gowther possibility next fight. The "character revealed to be another character" is a trope used often in Nakaba's 7DS-universe plots. So next fight, we might see Gowther re-emerge, or the mangaka could have even set that up knowing we would suspect Gowther, and it turns out that you're correct, and Beltriepe is able to fight in the tournament (maybe his method limits him to half his power or something). It could be an ability of his, more Chaos shenanigans, or it could be the ability of his right hand man sitting next to him. Maybe that guy is even the one fighting as Mystery Package.

Now I can see why 4KoA is their own title knights. They're kinda the embodies their own title with their pre TS character is low-key the opposite of their title Percival, the knight of death, being very cheerful and lively because he's the embodiment of life spirit which able to take life, means bringing death Lancelot, the knight of war, being the very powerful but always restrain his power to maintain peaceful demeanor. Gawain, the knight of famine, being very prideful and has a lot of gluttonous tender, especially for pudding. Tristan, the knight of pestilence, being a son of literally most powerful healer in the series (Elizabeth) and also a nephilim. Now from Percival who we can say "awakened" as the knight of the death, we can actually predict the rest of 4KoAs power as the Knights of the Apocalypse, to their dark side i guess😂

But self resurrection is something no anime death God can do it's unique only to Percival I believe.

The kind of instant kill we usually see where it hits someone and they drop dead instantly (think 'avada kedavra' type stuff) should have no consequences to Percival, who just gets back in that body like it's his vehicle... Ainz has a couple of those kinds of attacks that cause death, but that's the problem - Percival remains active after death. Shinigami from Soul Eater... I'm not sure how many literal 'death' attacks he even showed... he was just a (Soul Eater) top-tier in the kind of attacks used by others in the series. I'm aware of Fire Force, btw. I think Percival might be able to kill Alucard as he exists after expelling all souls but his and Schrodinger's and exists everywhere and nowhere at once... but only If Percival doesn't need physical proximity and only if he can do it to two souls at once. But then, Alucard is technically UNdead... so... dammit, even after this long, that guy is still stupidly powerful

He used to avoid killing when possible. It's consistent that, now that he's learned things, death doesn't have to be final for those he kills, and so he uses the instakill spell to end the fight without collateral damage etc, then in cases like this where they're not a genuine enemy, he returns their soul afterward. Maybe he will start preferring that to the traditional way of fighting (at least for 'normal' opponents) since in a way, it's cleaner and doesn't result in death for the opponent and lasting pain for those connected to them.

That is the thing we see how Lancelot is war and Percival is death. We can make an argument where Tristan demon side can represent his pestilence side of his character and can bring curses and illness to people and things but I don’t see how Gawain is famine I mean even her powers do not represent famine either so I do not know why. I am also weird about the fact that Gawain is getting passed over by Percival and Tristan. And sure these two are basically the main characters of the manga I am more interested in Gawain than even Lancelot and I just fear that she is losing her aura.

I am so nervous about this. What's gonna happen between Tristan and Percival

If we didn't know Percival was so... "Percival" at heart, I would be kinda afraid for Tristan's wellbeing lmao. But no way he would simply go all out and wipe him out. The plan is to bring him back to his senses, so we'll probably get a long-ish fight where we get more info on how to reverse his condition, and it will end with Tristan being himself again.

Percival cant be just any life spirit his power over death doesnt make sense. Is it possible that he's either unique in the use of death and life control or is he like a being similar to the fairy king but instead the life spirit equivalent.

the whole thing with percival is that he’s a life spirit with consciousness and morality, so he can manipulate these things how he likes. Other life spirits just do what they’re supposed to

I think it's been relatively balanced out by Arthur putting Chaos spirits or whatever into his top guys. Now, Percival can't instakill any of them, so the other 3 KotA aren't obsolete. I think it'll take them working together, each with unique powers, to be able to counter the Chaos hax that anyone important is going to have.
