MVD works the best, lasts longer. I had MVD 2012, came back in 2019 but I feel it inside the mouth, and above my ear. Looking to see what I can do now or if I should have MVD done again.

I am on Gabapentin. I have suffered for years! I am scheduled to have a radiation frequency Trigeminal Ablation. I will be awake for the entire procedure. I am scared.
@geoffb56657 жыл бұрын
I had this procedure about a year ago and it cured my condition which I suffered for over 20 years. Previously I was on a dose of around 800 to 1000mg of Tegretol per day. I tried every other drug available but always reverted back to Tegretol. I also tried acupuncture and various other treatments which were a waste of money and time. Because of the nature of inserting a needle into the brain I was hesitant to try and cancelled my operation twice but eventually, because of the pain, went ahead. Now I have absolutely no pain and no side effects although for about a month or so had difficulty chewing and numbness in the right cheek but that has now gone. My doctor was Dr Danks at Monash Medical Centre in the Melbourne area.

Hi Geoff, great to hear. How are you getting on now? Still pain free with no side effects? (My dad has TN and is looking at radio frequency ablation). Many thanks

I had this procedure carried out by Doctor Danks who is situated at Monash Medical Centre Clayton Victoria Australia. It is known as balloon therapy. For a while my face and jaw was numb but after a month or so everything settled down and now I’ve forgotten I’ve even had Trigeminal Neuralgia.

@@geoffb5665 great and one more question did you have vascualr compression too like any artery or vein contacting your trigeminal nerve in mri and how are you now as mvd is risky surgery and there are other procedures that are safe and even Mvd is not lifelong as seen many patients so want to know about it whether if anyone have vascular compression then how is it's result and if you have vascualr compression then is it at root entry zone or cisternal segment of trigeminal nerve..and what is your age at that time ?? And mvd is risky but why you opted for this technique

Thanks a lot for this great video, i watched and listen it like a lecture in a medical meeting. I would like yo ask, which procedure leads more numbness? Radiofequency or Balloon decompression? Thank you for your answer.
@sadehavvad2 жыл бұрын
I guess it depends on the preference of the surgeon. The surgeon chooses to make the operation more invasive or not. As they have said, more post-operative numbness means a more successful result in the long term.
