As someone who absolutely loved reading this series like 10 years ago, but haven't paid much attention to it since, I am very excited to watch this show. I forgot a lot of the smaller details, so I think it says a lot when even I notice how much more accurate these trailers are to the book than the movie ever was lol.

My girlfriend doesn’t like Lin because of his past decisions to cast whiter actors in traditionally minority coded roles. A specific example was his film, In the Heights, which was supposed to include Puerto Ricans but actively avoided casting them.

There is hate for Lin? I haven't seen much of that, I'm super excited to see how he portrays Hermes. I feel I would be a child of Apollo, being a nurse and all, I also did a lot of archery at my camps i went to as a kid and always enjoyed it so I feel Apollo fits me quite well.

I am slightly disappointed because the writers room and the producers, directors, and all that are VERY white male dominated. If they wanted to change Annabeth’s story to show how she was underestimated because of her race, you would think they would have people behind the scenes that could reflect that kind of story. I do still have faith in the show, but I hope they can get more diversity behind the scenes for upcoming seasons.

I totally agree there could definitely be more diversity behind the scenes! Hopefully the panel was just a poor representation of everyone else. On topic of annabeth, I’m not sure if they’re changing her story to have anything to do with race, I haven’t heard or read anything about that. I’m curious to see if they do that though!

@@cameronsilas Yeah, the thing is though- writing rooms seem to only have diversity when it’s a project that diversity is super important to the story. But it shouldn’t have to be like that. Just because the story isn’t about gender or race, doesn’t mean there shouldn’t be diversity in those areas behind the scenes
