RIGHT! Now after what, 37 years of playing bass, first inspired by Mick Karn, a few months back, I slotted into a jazz trio effortlessly. I've been listening to a lot of Gong recently, too. I don't understand why, except among a handful of musicians that Percy Jones is not held in equal regard with Jaco, nor do I understand why Jaco is regarded as a god-like singularity among bassists as though he eclipsed all others. While I am not suggesting Jaco was not a virtuoso, there have been many other bass virtuosos before, during and after, many of whom I personally like alot more, Percy among them.
