@@joeb3505 nah my beard hair is just genetically pretty straight. When I use a clipper I basically set it at a 1 or a 2 by my side burns and than raise it higher as I move towards my chin. So start at a 2, then a 5 in the middle, and at my chin I use either the highest level or just use scissors to trim and shape it. Gives it more of an angle

I know the Legion of the Damned is like all Astartes, but it would be super cool to see normal humans with incredible willpower get summoned back with the Legion Astartes. For example, imagine along side the Astartes, you see a normal sized burning skeleton, wearing a burnt black commissar uniform, with an eye implant and and a giant power claw replacing one of its arms, commanding other normal humans that managed to be revived in the legion because of their incredible willpower.

Ooooo I'd love to see that To see those heroes of humanity who weren't blessed or given any of the blessings and enhancements granted to the astartes. Just normal humans who devoted their entire lives and subsequent deaths to the glory of the emperor. It's so much more inspiring when the characters are just normal people as opposed to demigods.

I feel like your referencing Yarrick here. I really like your idea but (just in terms of Yarrick) I would love to see the WAAGH resurrect his ghost inadvertently when the Orcs are facing something they consider to be a mighty threat, mind you the ghost isn't fighting for them, they conjure him to fight against them in a weird Anti-orc orc miracle kind of way. I think that's a cool idea for Yarrick specifically. But I would definitely like to see a "Legion of the inviolable" or something to that effect that is made up of mighty souls - definitely a really cool idea. I know "Imperial Saints" follow this archetype but making it broader would definitely be cool and explainable through the cicatrixc maledictum.

It's not really Inquisitorial arrogance. It's aristocratic arrogance. And the Imperium pretty much is a monarchy. She's a well-written villain, because people like her are realistically all over the Imperium and they do nothing but make life worse for everybody. She pushes all my buttons. That "force of mind" religious babbling drives me into a seething rage because her worldview is completely 100% the opposite of mine. She really believes the human spirit can bootstrap itself past all sorts of stupid bullshit. You're poor? You're starving? You're dying because of overwork? Skill issue. Just think harder at the problem. I absolutely despise people like her. There are countless millions of factory bosses in 40K who are _exactly_ like her. People who are genuinely confused that their workers can't actually give 300% and are offended that you have the gall to die on the job. Clearly, they aren't devoted enough to the Emperor.

Why summoning a demon of Khorne requires some absurd ritualistic nonsense like executing 80 enemy combatants arranged on the shape of the number 8, after 8 days of fighting? And why Orks have their own "psychosphere" where their totally non-fuctional weapons work and gathering enough of them makes absurd memes like "red go faster" very real? Why Eldar are afraid to even mention the name of "She Who Thirsts" because the name alone carries power? That doesn't excuse the Imperium being a corrupt hellhole for the average joe or will make the trillion forge workers not die from overwork and starvation through belief, it wont stop the bolter round of a jumpy inquisitor killing a true loyalist, but *faith* is REAL in Warhammer. The inquisitor's arrogance wasn't the "religious babble" because THAT was *actually working*, lol, her arrogance is trying to contain a Damned Astartes as a conceivable action in the first place.

Warhammer Horror is, for me, some of Warhammer's best. Lots of Warhammer can become frustratingly predictable - But Warhammer Horror always subverts that because of the simple fact that horror is a hell of a lot less scary when you can put it into simple categories like "Drukhari" or "Daemon"

Perdition's Flame is one of the best entries into the Warhammer Horror line and I'm so glad it gets the Grimdark Storytime treatment. It's also nice to have the protagonist be from my favourite Guard Regiment,The Vostroyan Firstborn.

Maybe the read is better but this story is horribly weak. The fact that the inquisitor could have just told everyone what was going on. Like she wouldn't even have had to reveal what the cog thing was, she could say that yes it was the cause but it's all fake, you need to fight through and you'll be fine......like that is literally it. It's horrible story telling when you have one character that refuses to give up info that would save the whole story in seconds without giving them a real reason to withhold info.

@@viktorgabriel2554 Nah, it's incredibly stupidly written. The Inquisitor here is portrayed as insanely dim-witted and unlikable. The point of the Inquisition is that while they are hated on by the fans for the terrible things they did, do and will do, they still are a necessary element of the Imperium. They're essentially the 40k version of "You work with what you get." Without them, the Imperium would be f*cked even further. One of the best portrayals of the Inquisition/Inquisitors is Interrogator Heinrix van Calox from the video game Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader by Owlcat. He is very pragmatic and radical-thinking, he tolerates the new Rogue Trader's usage of an unsanctioned psyker and having an Eldar as a *companion* YET he won't hesitate to kill both the psyker and the Eldar if they cause trouble for the Imperium. That makes him maybe not necessarily likable but you gotta respect his moxie. That an instance of well-written Inquisition character.

The Imperium is a fascist (literally fascist, not 'authoritarian, but justifiably so given the setting', but actual 'intentionally based on Umberto Eco's 14 signs of fascism' fascist) xenophobic theocracy and everyone from the highest Custodes to the lowest Guardsman is responsible for maintaining the system of oppression it runs on. The only ambiguity is in the level of knowing culpability of each layer of the system and the Custodes are at the top of that.

Do you think the Inquisition could have kept something like THAT, a secret for very long? From the Custodes, the Grey Knights! How they would have reacted to someone in the Inquisition, captured a FRICKIN' Legion of the Damned Astartes! Half expected him to try to recruit either that guy or the Captain, into their ranks, they've done it before! Especially the prisoner, to repay a dept of some kind.

I did! They were my very first army way back in 4th edition! I've actually been gathering a little snippets and pieces of information to do a deep dive on them. They're probably going to be the next in the deep dive series. I haven't decided yet, but I think the named tyranid's like the swarm, lord, red terror, and old one eye, etc etc might get their own dedicated video on top of that, as their stories would take up a pretty big chunk of it.

Wow, this shows how the emperor really fu********ed up with Magnus, he wanted people to know how shit like this would happen and teach people to overcome it with either psykers or psychic tech like the one grey knights did instead of acting like the inquisitor willing to kill innocents just to cover it up and maybe get rid of it, while everyone else devolves in to superstitious chaos from the dark ages.

That's it! Yes, somehow the Inquisition captured one and was keeping it for study. Most likely at the prison colony so the could experiment and replicate what makes a Damned Astartes. I can only imagine the things they wanted to do. I literally screamed when I realized what it was.

​@@suttone75 irony is if any actual astartes ever learned of it, the inquisitors that caught it would be regretting their decisions. I can't imagine many chapters especially any that have been saved by the legion taking kindly to the inquisition messing around with one of them.

The power imbalance makes me question it, for how does one even begin capturing such a thing? What if it wasn't captured... but called forth? The Legion of the Damned reality bending way to just be in the thick of things is it's narrative, turning up as a miracle indeed. Instead of trying to imprison something of that nature it might be easier to direct that point of occurrence, in a similar way we can use an ion trail in the atmosphere to bring a lightning bolt down onto a particular target. That would mean there was nothing in that cage but the 'feelings of combat overwhelming,' something those Psykers could be forced to do as lure that would draw forth the Legion. Unfortunately, it really just draws forth all sorts of things from the Warp while making a mess of any ship carrying it. In a nice monkey paw narrative though, the device creates the situation in which the Damned is needed to come forth....

@lostbutfreesoul now that's some good theory right there. I hadn't thought about that, that the clockwork sarcophagus was not just a prison but a bait, lure, and trap mechanism that brought the Damned into materialization within its cage. That's some good shit.

Well, the ending is showing the main character's decaying memory, because that is a side effect of witnessing the Legion of the Damned. They have a preternatural ability to evade scrutiny, examination, and study. Their presence garbles recording devices, cogitators, and, more frighteningly, the memory of anyone that witnesses them. Those that see the Legion are unable to keep the knowledge of them in their heads for long, no matter what methods they use. All manner of strange coincidences align to keep them just out of reach of those who wish to restrain or observe them. So who knows how this inquisitor managed to actually hold one for any length of time, but it clearly was some kind of timespace-altering device from some forgotten Dark Age of Technology discovery.

Everybody talking about the legion of the damned astartes,but I like the possibilities of Voss’s fate. 1.The rescue team had actually arrived but Voss,drowned in his own madness,trauma and hallucinations.can’t distinguish real from fake anymore.We write it all down for his sake but in the end he was left to die. 2.we are his hallucinations,and he was truly doomed,but in his desperation he tried to tell anyone.ANYTHING.about the story. And tried to remember it,rambling on and on and on,until he can’t remember it anymore. With dwindling supplies he died in that harsh night.

Thinking about this story as a Legion of the Damned. I am reslly on board with it. Although I haven't read / or listend to it other than from you Wes. Amzing job telling the story btw. Anyway, as mentioned I like the idea with the Legion of the Damned being catured, and ofcause it could only be done by the Inquisistions Chrono devision. But! What I don't really get is why Varsk is being chased by the forces of Nurgle. Or rather, why is the forces of Nurgle so interested in this paticular ship. I Mean if The Legion of the Damned marines are set to be one of the most powerful marines ever to exist, then why? Also the fact that the captain got filled with the same fiery rage as the Marine was epic. All in all a 11/10 experience listening to this, thanks Wes! - The Dane

So the question is whether this is a Legion of the Damned or if it’s some Khornate Terminator or something. It’s more likely to be a Legion of the Damned but the sheer rage it inspired in the humans around it is a bit worrying. Also it would be sick to see Brandon (Brendon?) again somewhere else as a Legion of the Damned captain, still cutting down those blessed by Nurgle

The rage Brandon was displaying was super similar to the righteous and holy anger the sisters of battle show in the heat of battle, at least that's how I interpreted it. Like if a legion of the damned marine is a demon of the emperor, it would be the equivalent of seeing a literal angel of wrath to the faithful.
