On October 26th & 27th, Pere Marquette 1225 would return to Cadillac for the first time in 5 years. She would leave Owosso at close to 7am, running behind schedule, but it made it made for some beautiful sunrise shots up to Ashley, and the sun would be against us at Ithaca, but the rest of the day would be decent but not great. Sunday was overcast which made it easier to shoot.
Pere Marquette 1225 is a 2-8-4 Berkshire built by Lima in 1941. She was used by the PM & later C&O for freight trains. She was retired in the early 50s & put on display at Michigan State University. After a restoration, she started hauling excursions in the 80s. In 2003, she was used as the basis for the Polar Express movie.
Huge thanks to Christian Henderson for inviting me along on this adventure & for letting me use his shot at Owosso due to my camera not focusing. Check out his channel @chendersonrailproductions704
