Brilliant! Blimey, I can hear Joy Division! I saw Pere Ubu years ago in Zürich. Very powerful performance, David Thomas was on stage with a walking cane which he smashed up at some point during the gig!

Contemporaneously ploughing the same furrow. Loved and went to see both bands several times from 77 onwards...Quality

Thanks! I saw them open for Violent Femmes decades ago. They always reminded me(very vaguely) of Joy Division.I guess it's those riffs, that deep, loping bass and somewhat angsty, nearly monotone vocals.

Absolutely mate, I was actually wondering if any members of Joy Division had heard Pere Ubu before. Their sounds and feel are so familiar.

@@angrypossumsx1259 I think Pere Ubu was actually an inspiration to them.

@@angrypossumsx1259 Peter Hook was present at Pere Ubu's English tour in 1978, it was right after they changed their name from Warsaw to Joy Division, that tour was actually the thing that sparked the start of English post-punk, yeah a few English post-punk bands formed before the tour, but once Ubu hit in '78, they all drastically altered their sound to what songs like "Final Solution" and "30 Seconds Over Tokyo" were hinting at, people like Howard Devoto who would form Magazine, Pete Murphy of Bauhaus and Hook of Joy Division, Mark E. Smith of the Fall, John Lydon of Public Image Ltd... and many more were present. Ubu were putting out post-punk singles in 75-76 which is insane, they definitely helped establish the post-punk sound. They should get a lot more credit. The sounds of glass breaking on Joy Division's "I Remember Nothing" was directly inspired by Ubu's "Sentimental Journey".

@@kelechi_77 Awesome mate, thanks for the info. Kinda reminiscent of the Pistols Trade Hall gig in Manchester where “everyone” was present except with Ubu they actually were.

Just imagine if David Thomas and Mark E Smith bumped into each other in the Salford Working Mans Club. The great musical atom bomb.

There's a few comments on the similarity with Joy Division. Had never considered this, but now it's been alluded to by others, I can hear an echo of truth! Always a fan of Pere Ubu, like them even more now!

Great work, looking forward to more. Could I request "Bosnian Rainbows - Eli" if you feel like it?
