Perez students recognized for successful start to becoming bi-literate | McAllen ISD

Pre-kindergarten students at McAllen ISD's Perez Elementary were recognized during the school's Early Language Explorers Celebration held May 23, 2024. The students received certificates of achievement following their first year in McAllen ISD's Dual Language Program. In a Dual Language system, students learn to read, write and speak in two languages (English and Spanish), making them bi-literate. McAllen ISD's Dual Language elementary schools include Fields, Gonzalez, Jackson, McAuliffe, Milam, Perez & Sanchez. Dual Language is also taught at Fossum Middle School and Achieve Early College High School. To learn more about the program, contact the McAllen ISD Bilingual Department at 956-618-7338.
