I am a welder of 30 some years and I am thrilled that you stick welded the smoker, makes it maleable as the smoker is not stationary when it is used, heat will cause it to expand and contract, therefore using ARC welding will prolong the life of the smoker, great job guys 👦 👍 👏

Awesome build. Like the "trim" to create a seal around the firebox door, but don't think it's necessary with the door being open for air flow. I did have a few suggestions: - I would ditch the heat deflector plate as that will disrupt the arc of smoke. - I would also add a thermometer to the cooking chamber, especially at grate level. - What about an expanded metal wall around the storage shelf? Then the wood splits wouldn't fall down. Overall, great job guys. Super cool to see a well thought out, heavy duty smoker.

I think what you guys are doing is great and I wish my dad was still around to do projects with but I think $3k is steep for this. My basis for that is that somebody could get a Workhorse Pits 1975 for a little less than 3k with a pull out shelf. Not trashing this at all and if you sell it for $3k then I'm happy for you. Personally, I probably wouldn't pay it.

This is a beautiful build but at 3k my opinion that a bit to much...workhorse 1975, Gator pits and Lone Star Grillz all have pits for less. Also speak from experience I would wear welding respirator mask when you removing all that rust from the pipes...that's not good for your lungs and overall health. The deflector plate at the firebox is going to create a hotspot right in the middle of your grate at the bottom. And have you seen the steam injection video from Smoke Trails BBQ?
