I am just shy of 79 years old, and remember the feeling of jubilation each year on hearing these songs. At that time Christmas was not "started" until after Thanksgiving. The decorations in the stores, the anticipation of what was coming, the masses of Advent and finally the celebration of the Saviors birth. Know what? I haven't changed a bit. A joyful, blessed Christmas to all of you!

Don't ever change that joy in you, freeny :) those years you've had long before I was even born (1990s) had to have been so pure and tame. If only today's millennia would be like that again. Maybe someday soon. But for now, let's enjoy, love, and help one another this holiday season and beyond.

I'm only 13 but I'm obsessed with this era. All of the songs are so wholsome and sound so innocent. I love it! Edit: it's been a while, but I think I've grown out of this musical sense of superiority. Music is music and listening to old music doesn't make anyone better than anyone else. I understand. You can stop your r/lewronggeneration comments and your weird "truly a man of culture" comments now.

Magic…..yes , but at the same time I remember the bad mittens I wore then, the cold feet and riding in an old car with little or no heat. The Christmas when all Mom and Dad could afford was a Hershey bar and anew pair of socks. Wheaties for breakfast and supper (I still can’t stand them). Getting a banana was a REAL treat. Things are much better now but we history looks like it may be repeating itself……

These songs remind me of my Brooklyn Christmases when I was a kid in the forties. We were an Italian family living only doors from each other. No knocking, you just walked in. Of course we spent it in grandma's house a few doors down. Talk about food. It just came and came. Grandpa made his own wine and reserved the best for his "friends". My gifts on Christmas day was some addition to my Lionel Trains. The stars in the windows were signs that you had someone overseas serving in the military. Yes, nothing like the memories of Christmas in the forties, at least for us on the "home front".

Christmas day morning. We waited up stairs. Looked in our Christmas filled with chocolates and sweets. The smell of the apple and orange. Even though I did like the fruit it was part Christmas morning. Mum would bring us breakfast, but we couldn't eat because we were to excited. " Can we come downstairs yet?" I asked. "not yet" mum answered. Of course I knew when when we could. It was always a christmas tradition.... It was the music 🎶 Dad played 'chestnuts roasting on an open fire by nat King Cole' That was our cue. So we grabbed our stockings ran downstairs and waited outside the lounge door. "MERRY CHRISTMAS KIDS" Dad said as he opened the door. The first thing I'd see were the Christmas vinyls laid out on show ready to be played on the record. player. Nat king Cole, Dean Martin, Frank sinatra, Perry Como and Disney which was always played Christmas eve before bedtime. The presents were layed out on the sofa. There was so much love. Every Christmas. There still is. The same tradition has been passed down.. My kids do the same. I put all the Christmas cd's on display and still have the Disney vinyl. Thanks mum and dad for the love. Merry Christmas everyone

This is the kind of music I used to listen to with my grandfather. I miss him, but I know he's in Heaven, and this music helps me remember Christmas days spent in the living room listening to him tell my brother and I old stories from his life while my parents cooked dinner. It was so peaceful and loving.

Some just love to hate. Getting older the more evil I see in this world and it saddens me to my core. Not sure where this world is going. Its refreshing seeing the overwhelming majority still wants to be and wants to give love.

These are the Christmas songs I remember in the mid 60s when I was 4-8 years old and My Dad or Paw-Paw would play these. We got cold Christmas snow back then. I still listen to these songs. They are the best! I am 60 now and wouldnt trade it for nothing.

These old Christmas tunes are essential for me when I'm decorating my house. I crank them up full volume and I can feel every single note in my heart. So much nostalgia and memories of better days gone by. I don't know what the future holds for humanity with the state of the world in 2024, but thank God for memories like these. I'm a kid again because of them. Merry Christmas and peace on earth, PLEASE, for all!

I'm a bit over 40-but I grew up on these songs. THESE EXACT songs, by these exact artists!!! Lived overseas and didn't have much American radio (just AFN, which they recorded, too), so parents recorded these record albums onto reel-to-reel and it's what Christmas was for the first 20 years of my life. When I happen to catch one of "these" on the radio, it really brings me back. You've made my day!!! Thank you

Steve Bradle I will just say I'm 22 years of age, "again"! 😉 I grew up living with my mother in my grandparents home since the age of 2 until the age of 13. I grew up with these songs as well, and they bring back memories of Christmas Eve when my Mother and Grandmother would stay up late getting all the baked treats done! My twin sister, brother, and I would sneak out of bed, not to spy Santa Clause, but to "sneak" cookies that were cooling on the kitchen buffet counter! Now I understand why Santa never stopped at our house! LOL
@HeidisHereAndThere8 жыл бұрын
Steve Bradle I go for the older songs, because I grew up living with my grandparents and mother! All the old standards, Lawrence Welk, the old church hymns my mother played on piano and organ for our church. They all take me back "home"! Blessings to you! 😊

I’m 39 years old and believe it or not I love this type of music. The talent and beauty that is in these songs are timeless. Yes Mariah Carey’s song is legendary in its own way. Michael Buble has a great voice kind of brings you back to this time. Band Aid’s song is unforgettable. Just remember though. This era featured very early versions of some of the remade songs and shouldn’t be forgotten. This era also celebrated Christmas the right way. Spending time with family, friends but more family. People went out as families to shop and not right after Thanksgiving like today. Look at the Movie A Christmas Story. That is how I wish families celebrated Christmas.
