I was quite disappointed when I realized about four or five months ago that every performance on The Kelly Clarkson Show is pitch corrected by the producers.

That doesn’t mean that she can’t do it without it. She does live performances all the time that sound just as good. She typically has very good pitch. That’s just TV for you, as far as having pitch correction goes.

@@kendrabryant4738 Unfortunately. Hopefully she doesn't use live autotune in her live performances--a lot of artists do, such as Taylor Swift--she alternates between live autotune and lip syncing to a pre-recorded pitch corrected track. Live autotune is sort of risky because it can go wrong. But I guess Taylor Swift doesn't care when it does.

But I just want to say regarding this comment, artists and producers lie about using autotune and pitch correction and lip syncing, as in the case of Céline Dion recently at the Olympics. I know for a fact that Kelly's performances on her show are pitch corrected--it's obvious when you analyze the waveform. I'm not saying she can't sing without it--it would probably sound better, so I don't know why they need to do it. If her producer, mentioned below is not using pitch correction (what's on her shows' performances is more than compression and balancing) someone else is taking it out of his hands and doing it. Here's the reply: "lol, she won a talent show, on live TV pre auto-tune. she's one of the last few that doesn't use pitch correction. All the music goes through normal sound engineering for compression and balancing. The music producer is her piano player, Jason Halbert, he also does her audio recording. Jason has hosted shows and done a tone of interviews showing their entire process proving she can sing on key. Not everyone sucks at singing. She'll keep in voice cracks to prove she is live singing."
