Of course; practice, practice, practice makes perfect! This Skipper is a smooth operator and makes it look easy in the midst of so many opportunities to make a bad move. Great work!

the port is campomanes altea costa blanca spain the yacht is a 70ft Alaskan with 3 helm positions and as they say easy when you know how. dave sea rose, she is a very easy boat to handel two engines bow and stern thrusters
@newsnetuk9 жыл бұрын
The key moment here is the positioning of the boat coming up to 1:00" into the video where she's brought to a halt in exactly the right place - despite - as Gary Workman says - having the wind on his stern. This gives the skipper enough time (and it takes a while) to get down from the fly-bridge reach the remote controls at the stern where he can see properly and manage the entry precisely ( He would have been un-sighted from the fly-bridge) . This is obviously a very well-practised operation. There is precious little done by the other members of the crew - except to stay out of the way and exchange some pleasantries with their new neighbour. They obviously know theior skipper isn't going to need any help . Must be nice to know the guy next door is a pro who won't ding their topsides.

Nice yacht - Looks like a Hatteras LRC. I like the lower aft control station for the skipper.

Bow and stern thrusters with twin screws. Pretty easy to do. Question: How do they set the bow anchors after they pull in?
@JavierRullanRuano8 жыл бұрын
+ProPainC63 There are lines of rope fixed to the bottom in front of the bow and tied also to the dock.
@southshoreadventures8 жыл бұрын
+Javier Rullan Ruano Thanks for the info. Pretty cool. I guess the lines are weighted in some way so they dont float up and then get into the props? Thanks for the video and your others, I enjoy them. Subscribed.

+ProPainC63 Thanks, and yes, the lines are weighted so they dont float.

When do you secure anchor or slack lines (I think they are called)

This harbor has permanent moorings to replace the bow anchor. He'll pick up the bow lines from the quay and carry them forward.

david higgins I thought it was a Nordhavn. Either way, single screw with a keel and barn door for a rudder. Bow an stern thrusters, piece of cake. Too many anchor lines out would be more of a concern for me. Nice work skippy

Man! This guy is showing how its done. About as perfect a job as I have ever seen. Many would try a bow in with that narrow a margin on either side. I tried to gauge the wind factor, but either way, this was impressive. Usually when a skipper pulls off a piece of magic like this, there is no one around to see, but when there is an audience, that is when a real boner happens.

I have to do this all the time without bow or stern thrusters, with a single engine, single helm station and under a strong head wind. No big deal if you know what you're doing.
@rjduval10 жыл бұрын
Big deal... He's got bow and strern thrusters and the wind is dead astern. It doesn't get any easier than that.
@jimquantic7 жыл бұрын
First: No one said it was a big deal. Two, this sort of video is offered for free, to anyone who can benefit from it, and that's all it is supposed to be. Lots of newcomers, CAN and DO benefit. Obviously, not you, so why not make a video in high wind and/or current and show us what a real pro can do? OR, just sit on the sidelines and criticize.
