Cam, did not think this video was a bit too fast, It was way too fast for me. Like some others I would like a clarification as to what exactly the residue is that you leave behind. Keep up the great videos. Paul

My name, Cam, I actually LOVE that you go really fast. I came here to know what you know, not to spend time with you and watch you mug for the camera and make stupid jokes and gestures. (You don't actually do that, but that's typically what I have to sit through in order to Know What This Guy Knows.) Also, I'm a fairly long-term odie's user, and I work mainly with figured woods that I want a polished-marble shiny finish on, WITHOUT eighteen coats of something that stinks and also leaves brush strokes and needs a long massage and a cup of tea and a long talk in between coats. So this was really helpful for me. Thanks for putting all this out there!

Because it’s video, I usually pause, rewind & replay is there’s something specific I need to hear/see again in more details. (On purpose but by accident.) Starting reading your blog. So the hard wax finish can be used on hardwood flooring? AWESOME! Because I can refinish my floors in sections vs having to refinish an entire floor (as in 1st floor & 2nd floor in 1920s house) an not worry about various stop-start points.

Hey Hey from Canada! Cam, first and foremost, no you aren't making these videos too long! Please don't feel the need to rush through them. The fact that you take the time to give us all this valuable info is amazing. I'll sit here and listen to an extended version.... because I'm learning valuable stuff!! Question for you about this finish. I noticed that you put your sign back up with a couple rags on your hands. Does this finish lend itself to showing finger marks? Can you use it for a table top situation without seeing finger/hand marks in the reflections?

It’s kinda sensitive to fingerprints for the first week or so for some reason. Good for a table after that. Good question Kelly!

Hi, Cam, great video as always. I know you've moved on from Osmo for your builds, but since I haven't seen anyone mentioning it in the comments I have to ask: the ketchup/condiment squirt bottles you used. They're ingenious, but how long were you able to store the Osmo finish in them for?

Cam, I have started using Osmo Polyx and I adore it. Knowing that the 3011 can be glossy will fix an issue I was running into which was customers wanted gloss but I wanted a "good" finish. Great how to once again. Thanks.

Very helpful video! I used Osmo WoodWax finish with ebony stain on a white oak Pederson dining table sanded to 220 based on Thomas Throop's design. Despite using what I thought was minimal amounts applied with a white pad and lots of hand buffing till little or no stain showed, I had trouble with the finish looking patchy and dull.. I waited 24 hours and applied Osmo clear oil satin finish pretty much as shown here, again using a white pad and hand application. The pad removed what appeared to be excess stain and I kept going with clean white pads and paper towels till little or no further stain showed. The result was a dramatic improvement both in the evenness of the stain and a very nice satin finish. The oil appeared to remove the excess stain. I suspect my technique was far from ideal but the result was very good. I hope this might help someone else who has a similar problem.

HI Cam, thoroughly enjoy your videos and your attention to quality! Cam, I have a couple of questions, as you have time. I have been researching live edge and epoxy wood working as a new hobby, and learned I need to start with very small projects to experiment and have budget friendly failures. 1. How did you embed your logo on this piece and why was the logo not damaged when you refinished it (I asusume it is deep epoxy). 2. Other entities use multiple coats of thick poly coats; but I like your finishes: is this thin oil you use resistant to heat and stain marks? 3. I prefer (for now) lighter (whiter) finishing, hiw might I I achieve that? 4. Can I stain the wood a light or gray color and still retatin that color in the process, and confirm I should stain after expoy pour? You do excellent and professional work and I admire your attention to detail. Thank you for the videos!
@BlacktailStudio4 жыл бұрын
That’s a lot of questions. I’ll stick with the logo one to avoid a conversation here. It’s CNC’d about 1/4” deep and filled with epoxy. Sands just like wood!

Cam, some finishes take 12,000 grit sanding and some take 240 grit. It all depends on what you, the artist wants to accomplish. Your videos are not too fast, very well done.
