ive never really been a big hummus fan and ive tried to force myself to like it because its such a healthy snack. ive made my own hummus a few times but there was just something about it that didnt sit right with me. however i literally just got done making this recipe and i wanted to weep into the food processor because i couldnt believe how amazing it was. very lemon and garlicy. 10/10. love this with all of my heart. will be making it every week for the rest of my life probably. thanks so much for the recipe, guys!

Jacinta: As you indicated, it is sad not to like hummus. Have you figured out why you have not liked it? I have learned that one can make hummus out of any bean: white, black, red, even peas! I'll bet lentils would work too. One can vary the seasonings and the fats. I love that you want this to work. And some of the commenters here have such splendid ideas. I have even seen recipes for dessert hummus ( chocolate and cookie dough).

I adore hummus and I always put different stuff in the basic recipe. My philosophy is that you can never go wrong when you put something tasty into something tasty. Faves so far have been kalamata olives, avocado, parsley, dill and spinach. Most times I put just one of these, but sometimes I feel adventurous and combine.

@sugarpeas458 жыл бұрын
+Craftlover 9 Crush the garlic separately from the rest of the hummus with the lemon juice you plant to add to the hummus. It prevents garlic's enzyme's from converting garlic's flavor compounds into the ones with the harsh burning bite.

I am an America's Test Kitchen fan, as well as a fan of this channel. The most recent season of ATK has an updated recipe for hummus. They run the garlic through a garlic press, pour the lemon juice over the garlic and allow the mixture to sit for 10 minutes, and then strain through a fine strainer before adding to the food processor. I haven't tried the technique yet but find the idea interesting. I think the lemon juice/garlic technique may work for tzatziki as well.

If you want super creamy hummus of any kind, step one, put your tinned chickpeas in a pot with water to cover, bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes. Step two, in about 1/2 cup of tahini, whisk it with with 3-4 tablespoons of ice water! Trust me! It makes it more like a peanut butter consistency. Step three, make your hummus with the hot chickpeas and whipped tahini. I do add lemon zest, lemon juice, lemon pepper and a bunch of garlic. That’s my basic hummus! Enjoy! Love your channel!!!!!
