This is where I get confused . Divide speed of light by freq. Using same units 300 divided by 14Mhz gives ? Metres. Full Wave. Ok but then radio waves travel through air faster than through a conductor, wire for example. RF cable manufacturers quote correction factors whereby 0.95 for example so cable length full Wave multiplied by 0.95 gives wavelength in a conductor. That where I get confused . Food for thought. Yes.... Your absolutely right. It gets you close from the start.. Then test and trim. The wire may be a little long .. but better than short.

Where does the choke, seen on some end fed antennas come into play when making you wire measurements.

Need help, trying an EF Non Resonant for 10-80 meters. The 9:1 is right next to the house so coax is approx. 15'. I tried with and without a common mode choke at antenna feed point and transceiver. I have tried various lengths of main wire (102' to 125')and counterpoises (15' to 65'). Using a VNA the SWR curves look for 20 meters only. I noticed you did not discuss coax length. My understanding is that this is important if not using a common mode choke. Are you using a CMC? Any suggestions for my issues?
