I am usually surprised and amazed at the depth and simple complexity of the Affinity products. Thanks for people like Elaine that make understanding the scope of these programs a little easier for me....

Hands down the best Affinity Publisher instructor on the web right now. Every video drop has been pure gold--Elaine you are an invaluable resource! One request I have is how to improve "book flow" for lack of a better term. Where images, charts, tables etc would be placed (and how often) in relation to blocks of text throughout an entire non-fiction work, for maximum eye comfort to the reader and for consistent overall aesthetics. Basically your feng shui philosophy for books. Can't wait to see what you've got up your sleeve next, keep em coming--thank you.

Thank you for your very kind words ❤️ I love your "feng shui philosophy for books" analogy! I'll be sure to add it to the list of future content. What sort of non-fiction books do you design?

@@ElaineGiles Hi Elaine. I'm deep in the research phase of my very first book, a gardening workbook. Very much a "just the facts ma'am" pub (with lots of bite-sized info boxes and templates throughout) but with a very unique twist. My goal is to upload to KDP by Xmas this year.

Elaine, thanks so much for your great videos. Quick question: I see a lot of people using keynote for designing forms and a some layouts. Would you use keynote or mac pages instead of affinity designer? Thanks.

Thank you! I have a two questions: What happens if I change formatting or added text before page 7 (the start of the novel's text) which moves the page 7 to page 9 thus the novel starts at page 9 do the sections move with it do the arabic numbering still start at page 7 and I have to correct it by hand? Secondly, On the TOC page ii (page 6) you applied Master B in order to have no page numbering. Is it possible to have a numbering depending on the content of the page, i.e. if the TOC extends to page 6 due to formatting changes, I like to have a page numbering can this be automated somehow? Otherwise the page numbering is one of the very last things to work on.

If you need more content before Page 7 the page numbers are automatically corrected to accommodate this. To test this: insert 2 additional pages after the current page 5. Chapter 1 then starts on physical page 9 but the page number still displays as Page 1. The 2 additional pages are numbered ii and iii which would be correct to accommodate a longer ToC. You can't conditionally have page numbers displayed based on the content of the page. However, it is simple enough to have a range of Master Pages and apply the one you need. As you say it is best to leave the final formatting or checking of page numbers until the content is finalized as it's easy to miss a page along the way. Hope that helps.
