Back in the day, I had the Paradigm Servo 15 subs Currently I have two SVS Ultra 13 subs identical size and finish to these Paradigm subs Mine are 10 years old, so I went with the SVS plate amp upgrade Now 1,200 watts, 5,000 peak and DSP control from smart phone I've had Paradigm speakers also in the past and l can say Paradigm equipment is top knotch!!

Hi how can you compare it with Rel Carbon Special?

I'd be taking the xr13. The carbon special runs a passive radiator, these designs tend to have a higher group delay - slower bass

Great looking speaker and would love a couple but the cost is too much for me. For the price of one Paradigm X13 you could purchase two Monoprice 16in THX subs or even two Monoprice M-215 Dual 15in THX subs. BTW if you ever get the chance please consider reviewing a monoprice sub I'd really like to hear your opinions of them (good or bad). Thanks.

Can you compare having two of these to the Perlisten D215S considering two of these would cost more?

Will a XR 13 be in league with larger 18 inch driver subs like Rythmik F18(sealed) or JTR RS1? They're on the short list too! Equal preference for audio and movies. Great channel Shane, good work as usual!!

Those are massive subs compared to this one. Those will have more output.

I have no way of comparing subs in person so I'm desperate for helpful opinions. Shane what would you recommend for a acoustic paneled 12 x 18 x 8 ft room, 2 XR 13, 2 Rythmik F 18's or 1 or 2 JTR RS1's? 60/40 music and movies. I have full range Paradigm towers in a 7.1 set up with Marantz SR 8015 AVR and one old Paradigm Servo 15 V sub due for demotion.@@therealshanelee

@@Albert-ed3hg I have personally had 2 F18's and 2 RS1's as well as 2 RS2's and now have just the XR13's. They are all great subs but the XR13's small size and looks won me over. They are just so damn accurate too. Keep in mind I am like 90% music and 10% HT.

What do you think of the Woojer Strap 3? I use it with the Sennheiser HD 560S. It cost me $400 for both.

I'm thrilled that Paradigm has sent you one of their products. Not because I'm a fan of their subs, but because you should plead and beg them to send you one of their Persona line model speakers. The 5F are their sweet spot. At $20k might seem very expensive, but in my opinion, they are vastly superior to the Perlisen S5T in regards to music reproduction. Perlisten speakers are world class Home theater speakers, and good hi-fi music speakers. Persona line are world class hi fi music soeakers and decent home theater speakers.

Do NOT like the capacitive touch screen. Knobs are way better. Companies usually use touch screens when they try to cut costs on parts, you see this a lot in cars. So maybe Paradigm is a cheap brand now? With a touch screen, they sure feel cheap to me. Also that touch screen will be a finger print magnet since you have to take your gloves off to use it. Otherwise looks like it could be a good sub. The app looks really cool which would help find standing waves, etc. And the gloss... yuck. It's also a reflection magnet. I guess the folks over at Paradigm watch all of their movies with the lights on otherwise they'd know that glossy finishes can be very distracting in a dark room. I see on their web site the only other finish is wood grain... which would be fine if it were black.
