Chrisians do that as regular practice with the Hebrew Scriptures. Isaiah 7: First Read in context. The sign is not a birth of a child . Isaiah tells King Ahaz. Don't be afraid of this invasion and military attacks. The Sign is that before the child is old enough to know right from wrong.The two kings that are attacking him will be gone. There will be peace and prosperity in the land. Read at least the entire chapter. Then we come to the word העלמה The ה before the noun makes it a Definite noun "the". female who was there in their sight. It also say she IS pregnant. הרה . Present tense. Then if you are trying to say העלמה with the Definite article is a virgin in the futher then you have to explain why God would mention Miriam was a virgin Ex 2:8. In Gen 24; 43 the servant of Avraham, when seeking a wife for Isaac with a specific sign. When ¿virgin (העלמה( no he assumes a young unmarried single female would be a virgin. He is Looking for a compassionate caring,giving young girl. העלמה. The word for virgin is and always was בתולה. Later in describing Rebekah בתולה a virgin is used Gen 24:16 no man "knew her". בתולה is not used in Isaiah7. Other places בתולה is used. Ester the King searches for a virgin. בתולה Judges 21 says they found 400 young girls, then adds the word virgin. העלמה is used only only 3 x there are other Is words for a young girl, such as נערה. There is only one word used for virgin, For very obvious reasons. You either are or you aren't a virgin. בתולה.
