Perfect planted Cichlid tank? Step by step tutorial for beginners!

In this video I will show you one of my best aquarium setups! Beautiful planted cichlid tank that I was planning for weeks. It has Seiryu stone hardscape, Anubias and Ferns growing inside and it all works perfect with big cichlids!

- Heros efasciatus (Heros Efasciatus)
- Salivini cichlid (Cichlasoma Salvini) - probably temporary
- Green Terror (Andinoacara Rivulatus)
- Oscar (Astronotus Ocellatus) - definitely temporary

- Microsorium pteropus (Java Fern)
- Microsorum mini
- Anubias barteri glabra

Hello!!! I was precisely thinking about building a Low Tech Biotope (even without CO2 system) for some Cichlids that you might know, the Apistogramma borelli. I have a 126 liter aquarium that is currently empty, and my idea was to create something like what you did, you gave me very good ideas, I think... maybe is a good idea add floating plants too, like Limnobium Laevigatum, all cichlids appreciate those plants because they create a little more shade and help maintain impeccable water quality. I really loved your aquarium, and it was great for me that you published this fantastic video right now, you helped me a lot! A big hug from Germany.

@@AquascapingCube They display a lot of motion with colors and how they "alter" their body. Relatively peaceful too when females outnumber the male. Underrated fish.

Thank you! Yes, it's on the outside of the tank. I never use backgrounds, but this one is really naturalistic and looks good!

Absolutely gorgeous. Would love this as a community tank with Corydoras on the bottom. 2 quick questions.... 1) what are the dimensions of the tank? 2) what is the name of the Anubis in the back right at the 9:31 mark? Thank you.

Thank you! 1) It was custom build: 114x44x54cm (over 270L) 2) It was Anubias hastifolia.

How are the plants doing with Severums? I always stayed away from those because everything I come across indicates that they devour plants!

So far I had no problems. They doubled in size since this video, but it's still very early and they are young. Never touched any plant, but it might change once they are really grown. Will see ;)

Good luck i tried with Anubis, bucephalandra and ferns one year later 90% of the plants have been destroyed by the fish, the Bucephalandra was very tatey a that went within the first few days

Yes, it is a problem. But In the past I had big, strong Anubias with Oscars and it was working great. Also Severums are working well with plants. Only Convists were always destroying everything that was green :)
