Powdery fragrances seem to work when one wants to smell clean and inoffensive. It works well for work or office environments. I find they aren't bad to wear in warm weather. It gives a classic or vintage feel in fragrance. Orris and heliotrope have quite a powdery essence to them. - Jenn

That was a sweet story about your Nan! I do enjoy powdery scents and my mother ADORES them! For her birthday and Christmas I always get her a bottle of powdery perfume (her favorite is Bijou Romantique by ELDO) so - I am going to keep some of these in mind for future gifts! I actually found your channel while searching for reviews for Givenchy L’Ange Noir which I am actually wearing right now while doing my Sunday chores around the house lol. I blind bought it too after hearing that it smelled similar to Lipstick On. For a long time, I felt indifferent to it and maybe even a little disappointed, but I’ve really enjoyed it the last couple of times I’ve worn it which has been in warmer weather. I feel like the powdery iris and cosmetic components have been a bit more prominent than they were in the cold? Anyway, “powdery” is one of my favorite fragrance categories. Iris is my favorite note and I also LOVE almond, heliotrope, and musks which can all be powdery. Some of my all time favorite powdery perfumes are: Prada Infusion d’Amande, Mizensir Poudre d’Or, Hermes Hiris, Nemat Vanilla Musk oil, Zara MSK 004/NTL, Narciso Poudree, Teo Cabanel Oh Là Là, Dior Homme Intense, Maison Crivelli Iris Malikhan, Glossier You, La Perla La Mia Perla… omg I’ll stop bc that’s an embarrassing number lol. 🙈

Hi Chantal! I agree that the L’Ange Noir, is a very vintage powdery vibe, with a bit of a gothic twist. I have found that wearing it in the winter, has been the best for me. However I do not reach for it very often. I love insolence it’s one of my favs. I loved your childhood story, our memories tied to a perfume is one of the best parts of wearing a fragrance!!! 💜🌸
