No need for that expensive and hard to use tweak station.
Using only your existing ride height, droop gauge & setup wheels you can now get all your suspension preloads & corner weight balance perfect.
By following this tutorial you will see how easy and fast it is using existing tools compared to buying the likes of a Hudy tweak station.
Once you learn and understand this, it will only take an extra 2min to check and adjust while at the track

Gotta love content creators, a lifetime of knowledge and experience given away for free to the unworthy. This is one of the best setup videos I've seen.

Hi Tony, wonderful video. A suggestion....maybe could help. The system you propose is perfect, the most difficult part is understanding exactly when you pic up one side and the other lifts from the ground. If you put a small sheet of paper resting under the wheel that should stay on the ground, lift the other side and put it resting on the stepped gauge, then try to move slightly sideways the car..until you have load on the wheel it will move the paper, step the car one step higher and move slightly the car, the wheel will lift from the paper and you have an exact and constant measurement. Simplicity lifting the car until the other week lift is a little less precise, with thin system your tolerance is equal to the thickness of the sheet of paper and you do the settings whit the car perfectly still sitting on the stepped gauge. Hope it helps. Thank you for your great video. Donald

Good idea, I'm actually developing a tool to better and more accurately replace my hand and be still so precise corner tweak can be measured.

There is an easier way to this. Use a long tool to raise the end of the car directly in the centre such as the middle bumper screw. If one wheel lifts early then use opposite shock preload to adjust.

This is the method I use, and is MUCH easier and faster.

Joshua Dolim The way you are doing it is not even accurate mate. Unless you have a rock steady hand ( which no one does ) you are gonna be well off.

I find that applying corner to corner method (My way) gives a far better result than lifting 1 end of the car as this now takes the weight of the whole opposite end of the car and not each corner individually. Your way (Martin Hudy's) is faster but not as accurate.

Kindly to check the spring preload. Do I have to remove the torsion bar or sway bars? Something else I normally put a screw driver in the middle of the rear and lift to see that both wheels touch the surface together and adjust the drop screws according to adjust the rear. Same procedure to the front. When I tried it on a flat levelled surface with two bars underneath the chassis like you did, I found a big difference on one side, and I am confused which system I should use to adjust them! My rig is an Arrma Limitless, and it weighs about 6kg with batteries. It's a bit heavy that is why I use a large screw driver to lift up!

Quick question here, don't you need to check left to right balance first before this technique will work?

This is great! I used this method on my tamiya cars. I had my droop at uneven heights and turned out the preloads were screwy. Is it necessary to weight balance if the preload balance is set?

Thank You for this Video! .. recent A700 owner here, theres alot to learn but i Love it. Very very helpful . . Wishing there was a droop setting video to follow also. Question, the rubber grommets on the body posts? do you have a linkee to those or where to find? Sweet Car, beautifully done, I tried to mimic yours in my build process.

would the preload and ride height being off explain why my A700 wants to spin out when i make left turns ?
@TonyMcMahonRC
@TonyMcMahonRC 8 жыл бұрын
yes this can be 25% of the problem, it could also have air in one shock, tweaked chassis, unglued tire, a binding suspension arm....check all of these and let me know what you find :) I normally find a tire has unglued itself when it all of a sudden wants to spin out turning one way. Let me know

is there a super secret tool to use to adjust the end bell timing with the longitudinal motor set up or just remove and replace motor and or ESC every time?
@TonyMcMahonRC

Hey, yeah that is a bit of a problem, but you just have to unscrew motor from the chassis and then flip it over then you can adjust :)

I haven't raced for a while but thinking of getting back. But when you adjust the diagonal tweak, from I recall, you adjust shock collar, not preload screw. And you had set droop already with preload screw. I don't know maybe I'm confused because I'm not familiar with Awesomatix at all. But I do remember, Awesomatix's shocks are laid down around lower suspension. Is that why?

Will ride height be different after these adjustments?
@TonyMcMahonRC
@TonyMcMahonRC 5 жыл бұрын
Yes, but as explained in the video, once all the preloads are set in each corner, you can simply adjust the each corner exactly the same amount up or down and the ride height will drop or rise keeping the pre load settings
