Oh man, this was a great one. Even as a TRM fan and owner though I have to jump on the side of CRK, just my little opinion of course but I think they make a sturdier, better balanced knife. The blade of my Atom tends to get its alignment out of whack, to the point that it will rub the liners, if I use it on a zip tie or anything tougher than that. I thought about filming it but I’m not trying to shine negative light on TRM, they are awesome people and an awesome company. Mileage and use varies of course! Loved the video Pete.
@imgadgetmanjim3 жыл бұрын
My Atom has the same issue. I have 2 but have carried only one as an edc knife. The blade got out of center twice so I stopped carrying. I did change the scales but wondered if titanium or some metal scale would stay aligned better. The Atom is a very slicy knife, thin and sleek. Not a super heavy duty knife but I like the blade do much.

I really enjoy your honest and candid reviews! I'm certain it must get a bit tedious to identify and communicate distinguishing features for all your knife testing, but you do it so well! That said, the most enjoyable part is watching the effort and skill you demonstrate developing the quintessential knife edge. Truly, I value your opinions, because you're the best! Good on ya, mate!

I don’t give a dam what u get for doing your work! I can’t get the CKF evo 2.0 outta my pocket. The neutron would be a great fifth pocket knife for me. I need to get one. Great stuff man! Keep up these bangers!
@kymcopyriot97763 жыл бұрын
Great entertainment to wake up to, thanks Pete. A lovely mix of factual and frivolous. The Neutron looks amazing but sits well above my spend ceiling for this hobby and that’s okay. It’s made even more okay by the fact that they’re so difficult to get! If the knife was more readily available the temptation to splash cash on it would be more ‘real’.

I think TRM is giving amazing value considering the size of the company and the quality of the knives. I still prefer my Sebenza to my Atom, but that is probably down to some price/confirmation bias as well as a few little things like preferring a hollow grind and a chunkier handle. The quality is bloody close given the price difference! Would love CRK to step up to magnacut and let S45 be a short-term patch. This channel is what deserves a perfect score.
@ranger52813 жыл бұрын
Based on comments from Tim Reeve made at Blade 2021, I think you'll see exactly that move. Magnacut would solve a couple problems for them: (1) only one blade steel in their shops (which I wouldn't have thought to be much of an issue, but Tim says it is) and (2) their fixed blades would be tougher (than S35VN) AND highly corrosion resistant without a blade surface treatment (versus 4V or 3V). I think they are limited only by Crucible's output capability/willingness.

I don't think you mentioned the liners are titanium as well. Seriously GREAT knives at an unbelievable price and the QC is otherworldly. A good comparison is my Maxamet Sage, which is a fantastic knife at the price point. The TRM is better. Full stop. I have no interest in a CRK after getting my TRM. Hard to pick between the Newtron and the Atom. They're so light they disappear in the pocket. Glad to see the candy cane micarta, looks better in your vids than on their website.
