I always included the frequency and lastMod as i figured those were both important, glad to find pit i was at least including the one important field!

07:41 That, and I think it's also a good practice to mention your sitemap index path in your robots.txt file with a Sitemap: directive so that other search engines and crawlers can find it without guessing.
