Steve makes a good point. You could connect the generator to charge the hot water system too. Lucky Brooke to have such a loving caring husband! 400 dollars for that cup of coffee! We just use a cafetière! Looking forward to more of your life onboard your 895 videos.

Hi Steve,yes but to get the hot water system really warm the genie needs to be on for a while. Not great in the morning. I figure I can put it on for 5 minutes and byt the time people are annoyed with me I turn it off. Big four day adventure video on the way!

Good to see all your great content again now when winter season has hit us here in the north. Just lifted our MF895 on land 😭 Seems to be a nice generator. Think they are great for backup/emergency solution, had one first season but we almost never used it, got tired of noise and fumes and replaced it with a ecoflow delta. Can really recommend that thing. It’s really awesome to have on board. If the sun is up it charges up pretty quick aswell. We use it both for the water heater and for nespresso, even used it with a small induction hob when we had power left and was heading home. The inbuilt inverter is a beast! They look great. Maybe as the price drops a bit that will be an option. To get on in the 2KVA range is quite a bit more. How big the one you are using for the nespresso?

@@TheRudder We now use Ecoflow Delta 2. Also used Delta Mini and it worked really well with Nespresso aswell. But with less capacity, but size is better. Very portable :)

Hi I noticed you changed your water heater what was wrong with the standard fitted one. I’ve got the MF 895 2021 year and it’s fine Thanks great video updates keep up the good work 👍

The main reason for the change was to have hot water whilst at anchor. I know I could run the generator but first thing in the morning isn't very welcome with other boats around. I also found it lost heat quite quickly??

Do you plan on feeding the power in through the shore power plug or just run a few appliances directly from it? I have a 795 and would like to use a gen for the hot water mainly.

Can certainly do that but we generally plan on connecting directly to the generator. I changed the hot water system to a 12 V system (check out the vid kzbin.info/www/bejne/hnjGooycpJalj7c)

Hey guys a lithium battery and an inverter works wonders , your solar would also be much more effective as well , when I hooked my little Honda up to my boats shore power I had to make a plug to put in the power socket of the genset with the earth and neutral bonded together to stop the floating earth issue and a flicker on the boats reverse polarity light cheers 🎉

Thanks Richard. True but a marine inverter and lithium battery isn't going to be quite a bit more dollars than the little genie. BUT yes that is the perfect setup

Dont get me wrong I'd love that setup but don't forget the DC DC charger and the MPTT. At least a $5000 conversion, opposed to a $400 genie.
