I've used the SLZB-06M for a year now, and have had no issues myself since I started my smart home with it as the backbone! Just don't press the reset button on it like I did, and got confused. Avoids all the USB 3.0 port interference issues the USB Zigbee sticks can have, and the Zigbee network doesn't depend on a VM or computer to stay up.

Is that with zigbee2mqtt or zha?

Perhaps I missed it but I'm still not sure what the difference is between the SLZB-06 models. Some have different chips but which should I get for which scenario?
@notenoughtech6 ай бұрын
Frankly speaking, the difference isn't massive. They use different ZigBee IC, which in theory just offer the same functionality, with marginal benefits at this point. I think only one of them wasn't Thread supporting moving forward.
@geryxyz6 ай бұрын
@@notenoughtech I am kind a novice considering ZigBee IC, which one do you recommend? My goal is future proofing.
@notenoughtech6 ай бұрын
The slzb-06 is pretty much what you need. It has thread support too. So I'd go with that

Is it possible to use this device as a ROUTER firmware connected to the coordinator via an Ethernet cable? I'm having trouble expanding my ZigBee network. I need to take the signal to the basement of my house, but I can't do it just by using other “router devices”. In the basement, I have another router from the mesh network, so I thought about using this device with ROUTER firmware, connected via an Ethernet cable to the router, and so it connects to the coordinator device that is connected to the Raspberry where Home Assistant runs, which is connected to another mesh router at the top of the house. Does anyone know if this is possible? Thanks!

I believe you can set it as a router in the web gui
@marceloncosta3 ай бұрын
@@verygoodbrother I bought it, I'm waiting to receive to test if it works. My question is whether the router will be able to connect to the coordinator via the Ethernet cable, since they are very far from each other without the possibility of connection via the ZigBee network.

Yes you can as you can set these to be routers or work in tandem

you can but not easy, have to duplicate zigbee2mqtt. Not sure how to do it with ZHA.

Can this work on its own?? If I don't use HA just a sonoff ZigBee bridge pro and 6-7 sensors, can I just plug this in and it would connect to the zigbee network and act like a repeater, extender or something ???
@notenoughtech6 ай бұрын
Yes you can flash router firmware and connect this as a router device. Just note that on Ewelink I found the support for 3rd party devices is limiting. So I'm not 100% sure how it would work with this particular ecosystem
@patrickpaganini7 ай бұрын
I have only just learned about these as well. Does any one know if the SLZB-06M is stable with zigbee2mqtt? I think it's still meant to be experimental, so I ordered a SLZB-06 being cautious.
@notenoughtech7 ай бұрын
Worst case... You can turn it into a router, I haven't noticed any issues on my end but testing and running whole automation is different story. Prompt updates so I think the support for M will be stellar regardless

Yes, they do work using the 'ember' driver (the ezsp driver is deprecated in the latest zigbee2mqtt). I haven't had any problems with it so far, and it's the same chip as used in the sonoff zigbee bridge ...
