I'd like to add that when using Sentinel Prime to practice PB rocket, you should equip the infinite ammo and quad damage cheats, as it means you will never have to chainsaw fodder to regain ammo, which you shouldn't be needing to focus when practicing this swap, and you can put the gladiator into a stagger state much quicker. Personally I prefer just loading up Cultist Base/Exultia and quick swapping into a wall/the distance as these are two missions which you can load in and play pretty much immediately. Good video though!

Thank god for an actual tutorial for this. Very tired of NPCs glorifying SSG ballista as some end-all be-all swap when its actually really shit, in every metric. A little FYI about why this swap works the way it does: The precision bolt is technically part of the heavy cannon, and automatic weapons are given an 'instant swap' mechanic, so that they are more likely and easier to put into a swap cycle, since semi auto weapons generally are better for quickswaps, it is a small way to encourage factoring those other weapons in. Thing is, the PB is semi-automatic, with the instantswap mechanic, meaning you get best of both worlds, and can use it for faster swaps between any other semi-auto weapon, and you should. RL just has a moderate holster time and for whatever reason, is able to fire during its deployment, which gives you this incredible swap.

Question; why PB and rocket have the fastest swap. Now I get the balancing aspect of PB. But, SSG, Ballista, Heat blast and pump shotgun seem to have a cap at the speed of the swap not like the rocket launcher. Maybe the heat blast mod has the same properties as PB, I should look into it.

@@daniellaurin9566 ssg+ballista still works fine even in the dlc and it's much easier to use. it's just better used at close distance. pb+rocket works better for medium-to-long range because it's easier to aim and the rockets won't blow up in your face.

It's incredible how almost no one online, you included, mentions that you NEED to start with the precision bolt otherwise the first switch wont be as fast. This is incredibly ovious when you try it with precision bolt and stickybomb launcher: if you start with the latter its gonna take ages before you get your heavy cannon out

If you can get it down right you can tap the shoot and aim button at the same time causing the pbolt to not move at all for what I believe is the fastest pbolt swap speed possible.

That wont help you learn the muscle memory though as you cant quick swap to ballista that way. Since you cant turn off its alt fire so you will just charge the ballista if you are always holding right mouse down.

most of the time when I try to no-scope the bullet doesn't come out. It feels as if the weapon jamms, for whatever reason. The game does run at 60 FPS in my computer which I know it's super slow for this game so perhaps that may be the issue.

I'm having a hard time getting this game dialed in as I came to PC specifically for Eternal and the learning curve is a thing. bear in mind the physics in Doom Eternal (as all bethesda masterpieces...) are bound to the framerate: Doom Pro players use computers that can push the game into 250+ fps, and this makes the weapons swaping faster, and also the physics of the game stand at the edge of falling apart, as expected when you bind the physics to the framerate.

P-bolt as a "core" weapon is really good in combination with a lot of guns. P-bolt to SSG and P-bolt to Ballista is also quite strong, although not as fast. Combo-ing all four weapons is kind of the "meta" in high-level play. Another good combo is P-bolt to Combat Shotgun base fire. It's actually stupid fast, and is really strong in SGN Master Level on Classic Mode.

This info has been helpful, but i do have a question, do these combos work effectively against marauder aswell? Don’t get me wrong, it’s easy to kill him with the usual super shotgun and ballista combo, but ever since the frost grenade trick was patched, i’ve been trying to find a faster way to kill the son of a bitch without using BFG or unmaykr, also please refer me to your discord if you have one, would be great to converse you through a better social platform than youtube comments XD

You can toss a grenade in with that to help falter him a little more for an extra Ballista shot. I've seen people reliably Arbalest + Double Frag + Double Lock-on Burst, but it takes really really good timing to pull of consistently.

Ok so i can pb and switch no problem but after firing second weapon (rl, ballista etc) switching back and pbing efficiently is an insane sequence. I have beaten nightmare and use quick swaps all the time but consistently going back into pb seems like its just beyond. Are there any further tips? Ive practiced this many hours and muscle memory is not picking it up.

This is cool but on console its extremely hard because the weapon wheel is on the same bind as weapon swap. For us it takes a split second before the game registers weapon swap between two weapons

I am trying to learn the technique but for some reason cannot get it to work, in fact my switch speed doesn't even come close to what is shown in videos, I feel like when trying to switch from rocket launcher to the rifle the RL stays on screen for another few frames after firing and that decreases speed a lot. I press fire and switch keys almost simultaneosly, queueing the gun switch, but it seems to be too slow if compared to what is shown. Was this tech somehow patched or am I doing anything wrong?

He doesn’t mention this, but it only works if you start the combo from precision bolt. The rocket recovery won’t cancel like this unless it’s preceded by a quickswap from pb. No idea if this is a bug or intentional design, but there you go

Okay, I'm confused. I've been practicing this a ton and I can do it at a moderate pace, but what I notice in your vid is that when you fire the rocket launcher, it holsters basically instantaneously. I've tried for hours, and the RL always want to complete the kickback animation from firing before it holsters, and I can't figure out a way to cancel that animation. I can switch from the PB to the RL super fast no problem; it's the switching back that isn't working for me. And this is with a fully upgraded suit including the quick swap upgrade.

Essentially, you want to fire a rocket and hit your Heavy Cannon bind a fraction of a second afterwards, almost at the same time in fact. This should cancel out the recoil animation of the RL. Hope that helps! Keep practicing and you'll find the rhythm for it.

No, it still works 100% and there was never a "hit box" nerf, only a short period where Precision Bolt was bugged. But that's been fixed for a long time.

I just tested it PB + RL could work on console but the only problem is that PB is the only gun in the game that doesn't respond to you holding the fire button if this was changed console plebs could PB RL reliably and no button mashing can work but not reliable at all

I do 1-5, q, and e, all weapons. R flame belch F grenade mb4 blood punch G weapon mod. But you can also bind weapons to your mouse buttons if your left hand is getting too busy for you.
