The scale of this place is unmatched, in my experience. The vastness of the valley voids that were carved by ancient glaciers, the epic drama of the mountain monoliths profiled against the sky, the skewed canyon walls stretching miles into the distance, and the steep overlooks, lakes, and waterfalls thousands of feet above each other. It feels like the home of extinct giants.

@@PerfectLittlePlanet Happy to contribute! Thanks for the kind words. Excellent video too, though I bet the haze in the air was a bit of a bummer. The orange sky was a surreal addition to the magnificent landscape. I definitely want to visit again soon!

We are headed there tomorrow, and will tour it the day after. We're in our 60's and not able to hike much in altitude, but will definitely do Going To the Sun. Back in 1979, I hiked Logan Pass to Granite Park Chalet. Saw grizzly, Heck of a great hike then when the glaciers were abundant. Nerve wracking hiking down through the berry jungle after seeing the griz... but scariest part was hitchhiking back to Logan Pass with a bunch of stoned hippies on that narrow road! Awesome vidoe. You mentioned an annual pass! what does that mean? Can you get into all national parks?
@zhihaoling33244 жыл бұрын
It’s $80 per year for all the national parks(except those like cave tour things)
@PerfectLittlePlanet4 жыл бұрын
Hi Alyssa. Yes, you buy the annual pass for $80 (it's been the same price for years, but maybe it'll go up some day) and that gives you access to all National Parks, national forests, BLM lands, national wildlife refuges, and more. National Parks typically range from $25-$35 per car, so if you plan to visit 3 parks in a year, the annual pass is totally worth it. See more details on the NPS page: www.nps.gov/planyourvisit/passes.htm
@PerfectLittlePlanet4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the pass really just covers entry and parking fees. Cave tours and other special exhibits are usually not included. Also, parking at Mount Rushmore wasn't included, which I thought was a little weird, but whatever.

Yes! Vlogging is so much fun. We use a Canon G7X Mark II. We like it because it fits our style - it's compact enough to fit in your pocket when traveling, but powerful enough to shoot on fully manual mode, and it shoots really well in low-light situations, which we need since we film a lot at night. Think about what kind of content you'll be recording (inside/outside, day/night, landscapes/close-up, etc.) and look for a camera suits your needs. -Brian

I suggest Grinnell Glacier Trail if you are up for a hike. If you don’t want to hike the whole 12 miles plus there are boat rides where a ranger talks and if you schedule it there is a ranger led hike. The boat ride takes out 3 miles of the hike and another three if you ride back but you aren’t guaranteed a ride. On the easier side Trail of the Cedars to Avalanche Lake. BTW, get to the trailhead early and eat breakfast there. Most fill up by 730a. I get to trailheads by at least 7a. Just remember that bears and other animals are moving at dawn and dusk.

Great time of year to go! :) We didn't camp when we were there, so I don't have a good answer for you, but I've heard good things about Two Medicine Campground. We'd love to hear about where you end up and your time there! -Isa

We visited Glacier on August 3, 2017. I think a little later in the season might be better since you'll have a little easier time finding parking. -Brian

That was crazy seeing the bear on the road. Imagine hiking in a trail and u encounter a bear! My goodness just thinking about it, is humbling
@PerfectLittlePlanet5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I've run into lots of bears while hiking in Alaska. It's pretty crazy, but they mostly scamper off as soon as they see you coming. They don't want to mess with humans as much as we don't want to mess with them. :) -Brian

what hotel did you guys stay at, is it possible to get to all the places you went to without a car? Does taking a shuttle restrict your freedom?
@TrekkingPals4 жыл бұрын
From our experience I would say that getting a car is highly recommended. There might be road closure due to maintenance or wildlife activity and having a car will give you more flexibility should your plans change
@PerfectLittlePlanet4 жыл бұрын
@Jordan, there isn't a free shuttle to take you places like in some national parks. There are guided tours through the park, but they're all for a fee. If you're going to pay a fee anyway, you might as well get a car. Even if the tour goes all the places you want to go, you'll be on their time schedule. It's better to have the freedom to stay and linger in places you like more and spend less time in other places that aren't as interesting. -Brian
@PerfectLittlePlanet4 жыл бұрын
@trekking pals, I totally agree. There was some construction on one of the days we were there, and having our own car gave us the flexibility to plan around it.

how far away and how often did you see wild animals?
@PerfectLittlePlanet4 жыл бұрын
You can see how far away they are at 6:48. Maybe 10 feet? We didn't see anything on the Highline Trail, but everywhere else we went, we saw them. So I'd say pretty frequently. -Brian

Did you drive the going to the sun road from east to west or west to east or both ways? Is one way better? Was it scary to drive?
@PerfectLittlePlanet5 жыл бұрын
We drove west to east in the morning, but then we went back in the evening east to west. It's a little scary at times, and the cliff changes from the right side to the left, so it doesn't really matter which way you're driving. Just focus on the road and try not to look at all the scenery. :) -Brian
@todduyeda59295 жыл бұрын
@@PerfectLittlePlanet thanks for the info. I had read the east to west route (which we are thinking of doing in September) has less edge driving but it sounds like it's both directions.

How was your wifi and cell coverage inside the park?
@FloridaPete19484 жыл бұрын
I live here and hike in the park all the time. Very limited WiFi at some of the hotels/motels on the edges of the park. Cell service is close to non existent in the park. Granite Park Chalet 7 miles out the High Line get cell service but it's not a 100% reliable.There is often cell service on the East side for a 3-4 miles up the GTTS road. The only carrier I've ever had luck with is Verizon Bottom line is use your phone for a camera. :)

Hi Liz, like Pete said, cell service is seriously limited, but GPS will still work in the Park. I highly recommend you download maps (we use Google Maps) for the area beforehand, so you can always see where you're at.
