Will backing up using auto or user selection copy and, or replace some files that are in an external hard drive? I'm using Windows 10, so I wonder if that would work.
@HPSupport
@HPSupport 3 жыл бұрын
+Joey Slikk A system recovery completely erases all files, programs, and saved work on the hard drive. Always back up important information before attempting a recovery. If additional hard drives are connected to the computer, for example an HP Media Drive, disconnect the data and power cables from the back of the extra drive before performing a system recovery. This prevents possible data loss on the additional drive.

+Santi Gamez The complete recovery process can take 4 to 6 hours or more to complete. For best results, the computer should not be connected to the Internet. +Ali Rida Yaghi System Recovery: This option reformats the system drive (usually C:), reinstalls the original operating system, and reinstalls all the original hardware drivers and software. ... The Factory Reset option returns all of the computer's software to the condition it was in at the time of purchase. There is no limit to the number of times you can reinstall Windows. You can do it as often as you want to or need to.

Hi, I am hoping you are able to help. I have a Compaq Presario CQ61 which I've been using while my other laptop is repaired. After a number of programs were deleted in error, leading to the screen blacking out and windows 10 not rebooting I was able to reset to a previous backup and recover. It crashed again last night and now it's not showing any recovery points or previous backups. Any advice please?

+Scott Evans Let's try a system restore. Please follow these steps: 1) Turn off the computer and wait at least 5 seconds with the computer in a full off state. 2) Turn on the computer and repeatedly press the Esc key to enter the Startup Menu. 3) Now press the F11 key to access Recovery manager. 4) If a language selection screen opens, select the language you want to use to continue. 5) On the Choose your keyboard layout screen, select the keyboard layout that matches your keyboard type. 6) On the Choose an option screen, click Troubleshoot. 7) On the Troubleshoot screen, click Advanced Options. 8) On the Advanced options screen, click System Restore. 9) Click Windows 10 as the target operating system. 10) The System Restore window opens. 11) Click Next. 12) Click the restore point that you want to use, and then click Next. The Confirm Restore Point window opens. 13) Click Finish to restore your computer to a previous point. 14) Do not interrupt System Restore when it starts. Doing so can corrupt your hard drive and create more problems. Click Yes in the warning that appears. 15) System Restore returns the computer configuration to a previous point in time and restarts. How do I install windows 10 in my new ssd installed in laptop with original OEM hp windows with all hp driver and software which is installed in HDD. Because I want to remove the HDD as it was corrupted.
@HPSupport
@HPSupport 3 жыл бұрын
+Vishwajeet Singh Please follow below steps to fix this issue: 1) SSD size (capacity). The easiest transfer is to an SSD with the same capacity as the hard drive. This can be done quickly and flawlessly as it involves no partition resizing. If you get a smaller SSD, you will have to use Disk Management to shrink the main (OS) partition to be small enough so that it, and all the other partitions you want to migrate, easily fit on the SSD. 2) Migration approach: The quickest way is to attach the SSD to the PC using a USB-to-Drive adapter. This will allow you to migrate the HDD contents in just one step. Otherwise, you have to a) make a backup of the HDD to an external drive, b) insert the SSD into the PC, c) boot from some disk/USB media, d) restore the backup to the SSD. 3) Software used: My recommendation, which I use, is the free version of Macrium Reflect. What I recommend is the following: 1) Download and install Macrium Reflect (MR) 2) Connect the new drive to the PC using a USB drive adapter 3) Run MR and choose the option: "Backup --> Image Selected Disks" to clone the current drive onto the new drive. 4) Shutdown the PC when done 5) Swap the drives and reboot the PC. You should boot from the new drive without any problems. Since Win10 on your PC is already registered with the MS Activation servers, then don't mess around with installing Win7 and Upgrading -- that's a lot of unnecessary work.

+Sushant Chadda A system recovery completely erases all files, programs, and saved work on the hard drive. Always back up important information before attempting a recovery. If additional hard drives are connected to the computer, for example an HP Media Drive, disconnect the data and power cables from the back of the extra drive before performing a system recovery. This prevents possible data loss on the additional drive.
