Good info, Larry! Would you please go into the structure of the lower limbs and feet a bit more, since that seems to be an issue with not just Quarter horses but just about all of them. In particular, the forward foot or underrun heels long toe low heels and the DSLD syndromes.

I have wanted to learn about conformation for a while, and this video was so helpful! I learned a lot about what will affect a horse's performance and what could be deal breakers if you're looking for high athleticism. One question - is having a short back valuable to you because of the disciplines you are in? I am an English rider and know nothing about the Western world, so I would like to know if a preference for short vs. long back would change depending on if you're looking for an eventing horse or a cutting horse like you are. Thank you so much for this video! I love how you gave examples of multiple horses, it was so helpful!

In most cases, a long back can be a weakness. However, there are always exceptions.

First horse looks almost like a thoroughbred filly. Her confirmation would be a dream for eventing. I wonder what she is doing right now.

Is the reason why you don't like a low neck (connection point to the chest) purely aesthetic? Or does it affect the performance of the horse in some way? Would love to hear your thoughts!
@ltrocha

There are exceptions to the rule but most of the time it means the horse won't be as athletic.

Hi, dear lower neck setline means stiper the shoulder line too stip and heavier front set.

Why is it a problem for the neck to tie in low?
@ltrocha
@ltrocha 3 жыл бұрын
In many cases, it causes the horse to perform "heavy" on his front end.
