For their debut they released two main songs: Pirate King and Treasure. Treasure was technically their debut song and Pirate King was the secondary song so the MV is a "performance" vid

Pirate king seemed like a secondary song for their debut.. but it's actually the song that introduced them (their very first ATEEZ song) as they first perform it at the last ep of code name ateez before they debut.. maybe that's why the MV is a performance vid.. correct me if I'm wrong

KQ flew them to Morrocco to film this and Treasure (I'm pretty sure) they really bet a lot on these guys and I'm so happy it's paying off. They're such phenomenal performers, they do a great job of drawing you in. I love them so much and I'm constantly amazed by them. Like, they have been this great since the beginning! They have a "zombie ver." of this, the "will you be my friend" is sooo creepy there! About the MV, the first two releases they did double title-tracks where one had the MV and the other had the performance ver., both are kind of connected (same concept and all). On the first release, "Treasure" got the MV, "Pirate King" got the performance ver. (so if you want to check out the aesthetic of their debut, check out Treasure!). The second release was "Say My Name" with MV and "Hala Hala" with performance! I think they chose based on the performance itself. Both "Treasure" and "Say My Name" are more interesting music-wise (don't think this word exists but I don't know how to say this in english haha), while Pirate King and Hala Hala are clearly more the performance type of song. The third release was a summer comeback and had "Wave" and "Illusion", both with MVs.

So Pirate King was their debut but so was Treasure, they had 2 debut songs and Mvs. The performance mv is the official, there isn't any other mv for it, it just means that unlike say with Answer how it showed some dance and then story, the performance mv shows the dancing. Pirate King always gets me bopin, it's so intense and I just can't not dance around my house but I do that with all of Ateez songs lol

Yup, this is the right music video. They usually film not so crazy looking videos for some of their bsides on the album but we, atinys, appreciate it very much. Some are more of an actual mv (aurora for example), others are just of them dancing or having fun (like promise, they filmed it while they were on their first tour). a fun fact about the pirate king choreo is that they choreographed all of it except the point choreo in the chorus, which was choreographed by riehata. she gifted them the choreo and then they had a day to create the rest to perform to the judges. it was all filmed and part of their pre-debut reality show, 'code name is ateez'

Only their two most recent comebacks, Wonderland and Answer were solo titles/mvs. ATEEZ's debut and first couple comebacks they pushed a dual sided story that teased overlap then converged at Wonderland and Answer. Debut titles were Treasure and Pirate King, Say My Name and Hala Hala were their first comeback (b track desire is my most played song on Spotify lolwoops) and Wave and Illusion were their summer comeback. Their debut was October of 2018 and Say My Name/Hala Hala, Wave/Illusion, and Wonderland and their associated albums were all in 2019 with Wonderland promotions overlapping their 1 year anniversary. They appeared on an episode of "Try not to sing /dance challenge" it was hilarious! This song appeared & they said they were in the desert (I forget where)...I think for a bunch of videos...but they said "THEY WERE HOT!" Besides their "showmanship" (SWAG KINGS) like you mentioned I'm intrigued by their play with sounds (no joke! If I heard right, he re-recorded one song over 1000 times). His obsession with writing music resulted in a LOT of comebacks in a very short time & I think this went a long way in getting them a lot of attention.

For clarification: A "Performance Ver" is like the halfway point between a dance practice and the music video. It's all footage their team shot while filming the actual MV, but it's only cuts of the dance. There are no solo shots, there's no scenery, it's just choreo.
