Hi Jeff, can having flat foot be a reason for that foot eversion? He had mentioned in some videos that he does have flat foot and even the other members mentioned that.

I saw your twitter post about having him in studio choom AOTM. Then this came out. So for me, what is Studio Choom? hahaha... If he can't have it on studio choom, Rocky will make one and much better. Concept? Artist? Choreographer? Performance Director? Rocky can do it all. The artistry in this performance is at its best. He made this one for us AROHAs to be happy.

What a beautiful piece and a beautiful interpretation. I'm so incredibly proud of our Rocky taking these steps to be more "seen" with his talents. He said in a recent interview that he had so much more of himself to show, and since then we've seen him seem to come out of his shell, talk more, laugh more, smile more, SING more, and dance ... well, not more, but you know, more visibly! I'm really glad Fantagio gave him an opportunity to do something like this, that he could be inspired by and produce such gorgeous content for Arohas. The controlled chaos section was interesting because not everybody can move both quickly and still get full extension, and it's a testament to Rocky that he can do both. You can pause at every movement's end and it's fully where it would have been even if he had slowed it down. Really remarkable. It's funny you mention his feet (yes, I saw that statement from the ballet side of the house!). Usually they're turned _out_ versus in, so where you noticed an inward turn was a great catch. I'm not sure if he's consciously correcting for the usual turnout, or if it was because the jump up needed the sideways movement coming back out (I haven't watched it that many times yet!), but I think normally for him he'd be outturned. It's noticeable when he's with the other Astro members, and while it's not "correct" in the classical dance sense, it's a truly unique bit of his particular charm, kinda like his incredible spins. As ever, thank you for the review!!

Since I live in a very snowy and icy region, I think maybe the first part of the performance is bright rather than a bit "darker and intimate" because it suggests the glare of the sun on snow and ice, which goes along with the theme of "ice" flower. I also think that his moves are purposefully chaotic at times because he's interpreting the song as being what goes on in his mind, with fearful/not confident thoughts flashing and swirling around. It is interesting that you characterized his walk toward the "bench" as "sassy" because even pre-debut, he's joked about having "Rocky swag." I think he's joked about it partly as a way to cheer himself on, and the other Astro guys have done that too, with saying things about his "swag." So the way he walks to the bench goes well with the growing confidence he's expressing in the dance, as he faces his fears. I smiled when you started to talk about his foot because a while ago I watched a reaction from a channel where an ex ballet dancer reacts and his colleague asked if he had any suggestions to offer Rocky. The reactor smiled and said, "Well, I think his foot could have been turned a bit more," lol. This beautiful performance marks a turning point for Rocky. He went on King of the Masked Singers to make his entrance as a singer, and this performance clearly is Rocky stating, "I'm here. Listen to what I have to say through my dancing!" Being able to choreograph his own dance means that he can not only highlight his own strengths but he can also use his choreography to express his own feelings better than if he had to depend on someone else for it. Rocky is an amazing young man. If this is what he can do at 22 years of age, we have a lot to look forward to as he continues to grow and mature as a performer. Thanks for helping to bring positive attention to Rocky and appreciating him as a performer.

Its like blue Rocky represents sadness/fear, and red Rocky is boldness/passion and in the end he blends them together because he faced his fears, he is now ONE. Rocky is such an amazing performer, and quite sadly underrated because this right here is a MASTERPIECE that he created. It's a poetic dance, and the colors are the moods that flow with his graceful and yet powerful moves.

I loved Rocky's Ice Flower Dance video the moment I watched it (which is honestly typical of most Rocky Dance content) I think he really excels in expressing himself through dance (whether it be his expressions, musicality, and technique) A little tidbit about the inward foot; I think it might be a habit he developed in opposition to actually creating an elongated line. It's been mentioned that he has somewhat disproportionate limbs (at least in comparison to other dancers); so rather than elongate his body he chooses to make it more proportional. (Take this with a grain of salt since I'm not entirely sure) He also has been nicknamed King Feet since his feet are the largest in the group lol Thank you so much for the consistent reactions to Astro's dances! They really got me back into dancing through their choreography >~

I was hoping you would review this, Jeff. I think my favorite part (and there were many) was barely noticeable, just after he is overwhelmed by the dancers in white/his fears and taken down, then comes back in red (starting at 2:11). Did you notice where he bites and breaks through his invisible chains? It paints such an empowering picture! I also loved the symbolism used towards the end when he walks past a dancer and he grabs his ankle, as well as the costume change at the end adding back in blue on top of the red to emphasize that the fears are still there but we have the ability to face them. Rocky did choreograph and produce this cover, but you may not know that it was a collab with Aroha. He asked us what kinds of moves, costumes, feeling, etc that we wanted to see in the dance. Making it all that more meaningful to us. 💜

Yeah, and I never thought Rocky would come this far, asking Aroha for a good story and make it happen. And this is actually most of what people has been facing since time immemorial. i think a show that you might enjoy even just for yourself is street dance of china... especially season 3 and now 4, it is street dance focused but they also do many contemporary performances and it also shows the struggles of putting a dance team together ♥

Thank you for reacting to this. Rocky's dance just hit differently for me. Like I could see other dancer separately and be like 'he/she is a very good dancer' but then I see Rocky and I'd still be like 'WOWW!! He's very good!!!' Even when I'm seeing him performing the same song again and again (for example, One or After Midnight), I'd still be amazed by the way he moves. He kept on surprising me every time!!! Anyway, thank you again for the reaction! While we're here, I kinda wish you'd react to his behind the scene preparation of Ice flower (kzbin.info/www/bejne/nnzag5VqmrNkrJo). If you got the time for it, of course just for fun. Cause I just love seeing him in his creative choreo-making journey.
