Japan is still a patriarchal society, there is a large income disparity between men and women, and marriage is considered the greatest happiness for women. The veil represents the stereotypes that are forced on the woman, and in the end she takes off the veil without being bound by the stereotypes. I'm not fluent in English, so I use a translator. As well as Harvey's and jurin's teeth. The black teeth were a tradition in Japan were women had to give theirselves to the husband, as welk as pointy teeth, but in Bali, according to a comment I read from who I can't remember the username. Thanks to that comment I know this. Edit: found it, it is @myaachoom

“I want a whole movie with them and their world..” ME TOO.. can you imagine?? Omg! It’s been too long since we had a pop music movie. Think back to Prince’s Purple Rain and stuff like that. Imagine an XG feature length film that showcases music performances to tell a story in their world and coming to earth etc..!! Fun to think about 😂

Love love puppet show. I totally agree with you because you can vibe and sing to it. The adlibs are something. That string high note “stri-hi-hing” lol i’ve been singing it since it got released 😂 Also cocona was the one who sang the first part of the second pre-chorus 🤭

apparently there's a running theory about the teeth. Harvey seemingly doesn't have one or were blackened signifying how she's not heard whenever she speaks and Jurin's sharp teeth represents how sharp her words were. their last look also reminds me with TLC (No Scrubs with the white costume. Dear Lie with the hairstyle). I often saw Lisa "Left Eye" with a somewhat similar hairstyle :) Something of the sort. I don't usually comment here but as usual, great reaction and analysis! :D

I read another comment that black teeth was an old tradition in japan were women had to do it to show they were married; and Jurin's pointy teeth is a tradition in Bali were woman got their teeth pointed as a mark to show they had a man

The harmonies that you’re hearing is actually by Rachel West. She was singing the “ah ah ah ah” parts during Jurin’s and Amy’s verse parts and so on. And on the chorus she does the ad-libs singing the last words of each part. Knowing XG and Simon, they wanted to add her since she co-wrote this song and GRL GVNG. They just wanted to show appreciation and respect toward here. The song especially the lyrics and the MV have many symbolisms about society. The teeth’s have a very significant one as well. In Japanese culture, the reason why Amy’s teeth is black/red implies to the word Ohaguro. It simply means to blacken the teeth. It's an old custom prevalent centuries ago among most married Japanese women, members of the aristocratic class, and samurai. It was considered a status symbol to have blackened teeth. The traditional method used involved soaking iron fillings in tea or sake. Jurin’s symbolism is the sharpness of her message. You have to listen to her.

Harvey's black teeth are called Ohaguro in Japan and it symboled married woman in Japanese old custom. Chisa, Cocona, and Juria wearing wedding veils means an old stereotype that women shoud marry.

When analyzing the videos, I thought about the theory of the MVs being in reverse order: everything starts in Puppet Show, there seems to be a ritual that all the creatures, including the girls, need to go through (as if it were a wedding). Wanting to escape this ritual leads to the death of the disobedient, because, to pass through the portal, there needs to be some type of blessing. In Girl Gvng, we already see the destruction of the planet, I think that one of the creatures from the beginning has become evil and the girl gang will resolve the situation. However, I think it's not enough and they end up going to Earth, TGIF is the transition and New Dance would be the beginning of the exploration of planet Earth. Combined with prereleases from the album I feel like this songs is an antithesis to static totalitarianism (e.g. Amy and Jurin’s dark and sharp teeth = individual opinions people don’t want to hear?) and materialization of girls (bride and doll-like costumes)
