The funeral lion represents Ma Chao (馬超) I find it cool that the colors of lion dances represent key characters in the romance of the 3 kingdoms

Not sure if this is still in practice in Singapore since most gruops are modern Hok San, but I have heard in old school Lion Dancing when two gruops meet Zhang Fei cannot be used or else it means you are trying to start a fight, ironically my team used Zhang Fei one year when approaching a team to bow but our sifu is from a Vietnam so maybe the culture has changed as every team and province has their own lore

@@huyenson7871 Interesting to know! Does the troupes in the US follow different customs and rituals?
@huyenson78712 жыл бұрын
@@HakkaMoi Not really, but I do think with some rituals such as Kai Gwong some people just do it because other troupes do it and they don’t understand the significance behind some of the lion dance culture’s meaning like biting the door up when entering businesses, how to act when encountering different teams etc

@@huyenson7871 That is very sad when there is a lack of understanding.

Yes!! The youngest of the three brothers is Zhang Fei and was famous for his short temper and love for fighting, making him a formidable warrior. His lion, Dou Shi - fighting lion - and has a black face, short beard, small ears and black tail.
