Great Flying, cant wait to try that cobra maneuver! I also run this jet with the SMC 5000 and graphene V2 5300, recently swapped in the Viper motor and ESC and and found I lost TopSpeed, thrust and flight time by 1 min. I put the stock motor and ESC back in and my top speed in a dive was 127 yesterday and 113 in level flight. I get four minutes of useful throttle. I’d love to see what you think with the stock motor and ESC and compare how it flies. It has unlimited climb and will almost hover. Thanks for the content, keep up the great work!
@TwoBrosRC2 жыл бұрын
Hey man! That's odd, did you change the timing to 15? I only care about top end speed on some of my models. To the untrained eye, anything past 100 MPH basically looks "fast" no matter what - so chasing after numbers isn't as important to me as performance is across the flight envelope. The reason I went with the Viper motor/ESC combo was to lighten the wing loading because the stock motor is really heavy. Getting rid of the ribbon cables and blue box also brought the flying weight down quite a bit. I've flown this jet on the stock setup and didn't like it at all. It felt sluggish and was way more prone to stalling at lower speeds.
@zeektribe2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply, where how and why would I change the timing? Obviously I did not lol, the motor and ESC were pulled directly out of a brand new viper being converted to turbine. The Viper motor and ESC is 100g lighter, I put it on the scale and was amazed at how much lighter it is! This also moved the CG forward. I have to agree with you this is a touchy kind of weird flying jet under some maneuvers, but it is amazing. Rock solid and tons of fun!!!
@TwoBrosRC2 жыл бұрын
@@zeektribe Then it was already set to 15 if it came out of a BnF Viper. You may want to work with energy-based aerobatics instead of running the throttle as much. I can get upwards of four to five minutes per flight on my Viper motor setup and it's not lacking for thrust at all.

@@TwoBrosRC Lol always appreciate your honesty bud. Your Blue Angels F-18 seems like a good flyer though
@TwoBrosRC2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that's because Freewing actually fixed the problems with the 18 they sold instead of discontinuing it. The FMS/EF 18 is just awful. It could have been so much better. Maybe it will be if they rerelease it.

Pros and cons of the 5280's compared with RC Geeks and Fire Booty afterburners?
@TwoBrosRC2 жыл бұрын
I've flown RCG's centerburner previously, but never the "firey booty" stuff - IMO, that's the worst name I've ever heard for a product in radio control. It makes more sense as a hot sauce name at Tijuana Flats. In comparison to RCG's, what I recall is that it was more expensive, somewhat heavier, and required programming. Some people like that, some don't. It seemed well constructed but definitely on the top end of the price range. 5280's afterburners are lighter and cheaper than RCG's offerings. Like, significantly cheaper. We're talking $49.99 vs $78.50. That's a huge price difference for an entirely cosmetic product. You can't currently program 5280's afterburners, though, so that's a drawback - but I'm not sure it's a $28.50 drawback.
@chiefbd2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I have tried all 3 and like 5280 the best. If you order a Gooniac fiery boots he takes a while to ship, like a 2 month turn around. 5280 and RCgeek send them within a week most of the time. Also, RC geek burner does not tap into your existing balance lead, you'll have to order a small separate battery to attach to the burner. For those reasons 5280 is definitely the best way to go. I thank Jon for letting us know about that option.
@chiefbd2 жыл бұрын
Also, the RC geek one let's you program the engagement point on throttle with a hit of a button on the controller. But as I said, it still requires a separate battery. This you can work around on the 5280 and Gooniac ones by just using an open channel on your receiver to plug the controller in and you can just change the offset on the channel so the burner comes on at lower or higher throttle to your preference. So again, for these reasons the 5280 systems are the best deal.
@TwoBrosRC2 жыл бұрын
@@chiefbd Yes, you're 100% right here. I totally forgot that it requires a separate power lead. On bigger jets with separate BECs, you can actually wire in the BEC to power the afterburner if your BEC kicks out the right voltage. Then again, 8.4v might be too much. The 5280 system is just better overall IMO.
@M4rkmcc212 жыл бұрын
Jon which Avian do you have in there? The 130A? Also i take it from the vid that the tailerons are always set like this? Or are they on a mix u cab switch on/off? That means ill need minimum 7ch RX and plug the elevators straight into the RX and bypass the blue box? Cheers
@TwoBrosRC2 жыл бұрын
Yep, the 130 amp. You'll need a separate BEC running off the Avian BEC lead to power the retracts or you'll burn them out. The differential stabilators are always active just as they are in the full scale. I use a 10ch setup on mine. The setup I'm flying is on the tail end of my maiden vid: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJjVkHiji6mZlZo
