Perfume Blind Buys: Gucci Rush, Paco Rabanne Black XS For Her, Versace Vanitas EDT Reformulation

Here I show you some of my recent blind buys. I bought all of these perfumes from ebay and the first two were heavily influenced by watching KZbin reviews.
This seems very topical, I read an article only today (01/01/21) about how Gucci Rush sales were up by 153% during the second UK lockdown (November-early December)!

e.g. mine has batch code 9244 (so it's from a year ending in 9) It has Scannon written on it (so it is 1999-2010) and has the zip code 75008 which was the correct address from 2003-2011, so with these clues, I know my bottle dates from 2009.

Thanks! I really want to smell the new version now old! I wonder how different it is. I like the dry down when the vanilla appears and it gets more powdery. I have never smelt anything like it! 🤣

Hi Clare and congratulations on over 100 subscribers !! I love the smell of plastic Barbie doll ,I don’t think I have smelt this fragrance ? !! Next time I see it I’m definitely smelling it !!I’m like you when it comes to smelling fragrances when I’m out and about ,a lot I just wouldn’t buy ,I’m quite surprised about 80% of my blind buys did actually work for me ,not always right away but eventually became loved 🥰 Hugs Frances 😍😍😍

I quite like it in the dry down, but the opening is screechy. I guess the new formulation might be quite different given the differences in the notes. Let me know what you think of the new one when you get to smell it! Thanks for watching ❤️

It's a weird one! At least in the older formulation. Please let me know what you think if you try it!!! I'd be really interested to hear your opinion. I used the film on my laptop til December and I also didn't have any lights. Channel growth was slow until I started filing on my phone which is much clearer! I am no ever going to be a vanilla kind if person but I am very pleased with 600, that's pretty astounding to me 😂 I never thought anyone would watch 😂

Gucci Rush looks so different. I didn't realize that was the bottle, thought it was the box at first glance, was waiting for the unboxing 😄 Versace Vanitas sounds like such a lovely fragrance 🤗

Congratulations on 100 subs! 🎉 I tried a sample of Black XS once and I hated it. I remember it well because it was only the second perfume I'd ever disliked so much! It was so cloying and I agree with you about it smelling synthetic. Lovely video as always! Xxx

Thanks for watching! You should do more perfume reviewing!!! I wonder if the black Xs EDP is as bad? These blind buys were definitely 2/3 fails for me. Gucci Rush was interesting but not something that I could see myself wearing. I preferred it after 24 hours, it smelt more vanilla and powdery... At least Vanitas was good, but would you make a perfume futility??? Were Versace mad?! I am curious to know which other perfume you really dislike?! X

@@dr.claire.perfume this is why I don't usually buy perfume without trying it first but sometimes I get sucked in. I bought a new one in December on a whim (Boss Woman - the orange one) and I can't decide if I like it or not! The first perfume I ever hated was one of my Mom's. She used to have the Body Shop White Musk, which was ok but she bought one from somewhere else (could have been Avon) and on her it smelled lovely. On me, it smelled like a dentists (latex gloves mixed with that vile pink mouth wash) 🤮 I had to wash it off immediately! Xxx

I think I know the one, the bottle's like a kind of modern stained orange glass plinth! Body Shop White Musk! Wow! The smell of the mid 90s for me! I wasn't ever keen, not that I hated it thanks goodness, because my friend loved it and sprayed it everywhere, all the time! I never tried an Avon fragrance. My first boyfriend's mum loved Avon and would always buy me body lotions or nail varnishes from them for Christmas. I might stay away from Avon White Musk then just in case!

@@dr.claire.perfume Yep! Was definitely in the 90's. I don't even know if Avon still make that fragrance! I just remember it so well because it was the first time I realised fragrance is different for each person and the smell in the bottle isn't necessarily what you experience on your skin. Xxx

Thanks for the explanation on Rush about COTY vs SCANNON. I’ve just managed to find an original version and I’m hoping it smells good! I’ve seen pretty bad reviews of the reformulated version on Fragrantica.

No problem, yes that also put me off buying a newer bottle. I have been amazed at the number of videos that I've seen talking about the old notes when people have freshly bought, brand new bottles... Weird!

The gucci rush bottle is cute and unique. I only see this in the picture looks actually good on video. Black XS, ive been wanting to get that since until the new one came out so im caught between the two. I might get this while i can still find it but i might try this one first before i buy ❤️

The EDT is discontinued, so you might struggle to find some to test. The plastic in the drydown made this a no for me. I would be interested to try the EDP to see whether the sandalwood in it makes it smoother. Thanks for watching! 💕😘

I really want to try Gucci Rush...I find Im really into fragrances that are less mainstream and crowd pleasing. Vanitas is gorgeous. I agree easy to wear and an easy grab. I have a little mini of it, downside is just that it doesn't last on my skin at all😕. Its also a great bedtime scent😊

Yeyyyy Black XS... that one is in my wishlist.. never pulled the trigger.... i saw that exact kind in Costco last christmas.. but i never bought it.. i dunno why.. i was super affordable.. and i could test it out...

I thought the EDT was hard to find in stores now, I guess Costco might have had it because it is discontinued?! Not sure?! I would say don't bother. That plastic note was a bit off putting for me. Glad I bought secondhand...

I think the idea of Gucci Rush is that it is harking back to the 80s from a turn if the century point if view, so yes, it reassembles a cassette tape or perhaps even a videotape.

Gucci Rush is one of my favourite scents. I don’t think the reformulation butchered the scent at all. I just bought a brand new 75ml bottle (22 batch code) and it’s as nuclear as ever. It smells the same to my nose. On me it’s the most addictive sweet fruity patchouli scent. And I find it sooo pleasant and not in the least “synthetic”. Whatever they did with these synthetic notes, they managed to create a beautiful pleasant scent. I complain about perfumes being too synthetic and chemical smelling but not this one.

I recently tried the new one, at a Christmas party last week! I just finished the bottle that I reviewed here. It's not one that I will repurchase but rush is certainly a loved fragrance for a lot of people still. 🥰

Actually I watched this video because of Gucci Rush but I also saw Paco XS. omgggggg Where did you buy Paco black XS? I couldnt find this versionnnnnn I really it! I have been using for 7years and almost run out.

I think it's since been rereleased and reformulated. This was a vintage bottle even when this video was recorded a few years back. 😂 I didn't try the new version yet. Do you like it? I finished this bottle but never really loved it, it was a little plasticky to me.
