In this video, perfume notes will be explained. A perfume is seldom made with just one fragrance. They are usually a blend of up to three or more fragrances, consisting of a base, middle and top notes. Notes vs. Accords
Blending by notes is one of the most common and safest techniques for making aromatic and therapeutic blends. Your essential oil blend will contain one or more from each of the above categories: base, middle, and a top note. Some perfumers recommend using a fourth note, a fixative or bridge notes such as Lavender, Peppermint, Chamomile, Marjoram, or Vanilla. The bridge will help the other three oils blend together and are often Vitamin E oil, Jojoba oil, or another carrier oil.
Top Notes
Top Notes are oils that have a light, fresh aroma. It is the first scent you smell after applying a blend to the skin. Although they quickly evaporate, the top note gives us our first impression of a blend. Common top notes include Eucalyptus, Lemon, Bergamot, Orange, Lime, and other citrus oils. Bergamot oil is one of the most widely essential oils used in the perfumery and toiletry industry, together with Neroli and Lavender, as the main ingredients for the classical Eau-de-cologne fragrance.
Middle Notes
Middle Notes also referred to as heart notes are the inspiration for an aromatic blend or perfume and include floral scents such as Geranium, Roman Chamomile, Lavender, or Neroli. It is considered the heart of the blend as it often serves to cover up any unpleasant scents that may come from the base notes. Essential oils classified as middle notes are sometimes referred to as enhancers, equalizers, or balancers. Middle notes are what we smell when the scent from the top notes fades. This scent often evaporates after 15 seconds. The middle note can last 2-4 hours in the body and is generally the “heart” of the blend and can play on the emotions. Middle notes are often found in flowers, leaves, and needles. It also acts to bring together the top and base note as a “synergy” in a blend.
Base Notes
Base Notes are the backbone of the blend, which is what the users will remember most about this particular fragrance. The scent of base notes will last the longest in the air and are what you smell after 30 seconds of applying to your skin. The base note is added to the mixture first. Examples of essential oil base notes include Vanilla, Sandalwood, Patchouli, Frankincense, Cinnamon, or other earthy and woodsy scents. Typically, a therapeutic blend has only one base note oil in it as it will stay the longest on the skin and can last up to 72 hours in the body. Aromatic blends can have one or more base oils.

Omg so informative , you're amazing!! . I mixed up a formula but the rose was too overpowering because I added a lot of it . And I personally don't like a strong rose smell .FYI no video on KZbin is as informative as yours . God bless you and thank you so much !😊

Thanks for watching. What you can do with your blend is cut it in half and add bergamot or something else to soften the rose scent. Also if you add your essential oil blend to create a solid salve using jojoba oil and melted beeswax this will help it not seem so strong. It will harden so pour into a small tin or tub.

This was SO good ! Thank you so much for sharing this information. I really appreciate it ! I have just started my essential oil journey and it is a tad overwhelming. LOL ... I have been collecting my carrier oils etc .. and essential oils but still have not created something yet. I think my first thing I am going to try is the simple anointing oil :)

thank you very nice and clear. question please you mentioned 1,2,3 drop approach so you mean the two drop for middle note is the mix of what ever we want to put in so total of 2 drops
@AromaHutInstitute
@AromaHutInstitute 4 жыл бұрын
The blending by note ratio is 1 drop of base note, 2 drops of middle note, 3 drops of top note. You can use any oil in each category that you like.

I thought I watched pretty much all of your videos, well I found 3 today that I haven't seen before so that's pretty coolthey just popped up on auto play. So I think it's strange that Lemongrass is considered a top note, I would imagine it being a middle to bottom note because it is SO strong and the scent last forever-I always put 5-6 drops on a new roll of toilet paper and the scent last the entire roll. Do you think it's strange it's a top note?
@AromaHutInstitute

Yes, agree. It is super strong! I might have to test it out and time how long it does last. It doesn't take much that's for sure.

@@AromaHutInstitute Lemongrass update. I tested Plant Therapy, and for fun I tried a cheap brand called Natrogix- they sent me a 14 piece set to test, they actually smell really nice but don't have gc/ms test per batch so I don't trust them but anyways I started at 6:30p Sunday I wanted to test smell every hour but I got busy and forgot lol but at 11:30p PT was still strong, NX (Natrogix) was significantly less strong but still strong enough to know it was Lemongrass. I tested again at 3:30a as I was going to bed PT faded just a little and NX remained the same. Tuesday at 3p PT you could barely smell that it was Lemongrass and NX just smelled sweet and a little grassy, Tuesday night 11:30p smelled the same. Wednesday 3p both just smelled sweet, and at 3a smells the same. That totally sounds like a base notes to me! The only other oil I have tested like that was Lavender and within a few hours the scent went away completely.

@@AromaHutInstitute Yeah and when applied to toilet paper roll it last so much longer at least a week, I normally put 6 drops on it I guess where only the outside is exposed to air that's probably why it last so long?

Hey! ❤ I may have already asked, I don't think so but do you still have your perfume that has (I think you said) 22 different EO's in it? Do you have the recipe by chance? You said you always loved Opium perfume- that's actually my mom's favorite. Did it have any EO's in it? I thought perfumes/colognes were synthetic scents is that correct? Hope you're doing good!
@AromaHutInstitute
@AromaHutInstitute 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, I still do have it and it has aged well (and is extremely potent). I will see if I can find the recipe. It may be in the storage unit though (that's where all my shop items are. I have been buried in work rebuilding my website and working on the aromatherapy certification program. Right now it is on aromahut.org. Have you even look online for bootleg versions of opium? Yes, there are eo's in it, but of course the synthetics too. Even if you got close to it, it would be wonderful. Are yo u still working all the time? We still need to do a video.

@@AromaHutInstitute Oh- awesome! Don't go out of your way to find that recipe, it would be cool though if you did find it. ;) I didn't know you were redesigning your website-why are you doing that? I'll have to check it out :-) So ha...work has gotten progressively worse- thank goodness I'm getting ready to start my building business finally starting the process- it's been 5 years in the making. Anyways work- out of the past 4 months I have got (wait for it...) 6 days off!! 4 of those days I only got off cause I said I would quit if I didn't get them off! It's crazy cause I have no time to do anything that I need to do-for example I went 3 months with out getting a hair cut I looked (&felt) like a bumm. When I start building I won't be working here- which will be amazing but I'll for sure be able to do it then. If we finally hire someone here I can do it then too but I honestly think I'll be building before that happens. It will be fun though!
