I want to share something. I love the smell of the Legendary Mysore Sandalwood Soap, and was searching for that smell, for a very long time. I have tried many Perfumes and Attars (including the Diptyque one), but couldn't find something, which smells identical to the Soap. But finally I found that, and it is very very cheap. I know it's not natural. But the smell it provides is just reminiscent of Mysore Sandalwood Soap. It is SANDAL attar by Sri Sri Tattva. It's just ₹100, please try that.

In my childhood I used to grind sandalwood piece on a stone to use the beautiful smelling paste for pooja. Nikhil bhai which amongst these gives out that sandalwood paste vibe?

Have tried all except Vintage 84. That was too daunting pricewise and the earlier experience with Rising Mysore deterred me. Rising Mysore i loved but it used to last me just 30 min to an hour in our humid Mumbai weather so that was disappointing at that price. Tam Dao i love for its linear " haldi chandan" smell 😊. Lasts pretty long too. Tom ford Santal Blush truly gives the Mysore Sandalwood experience like very few others even though it may not have any in it. Dont know how they managed it but they got it bang on.😊 Love Guerlain Heritage but as you said Sandalwood is not the main player here😊

Yes, it's Amazing, if you like woody scents. TAM DAO is a masterpiece IMO woody and ever so slightly floral. The EDP version is even woodier. It gives off the smell of pencil, when u shave a pencil it gives off that unique smell, tam Dao EDP gives off that smell of pencil shavings along with sandalwood, cedar and a bit of violet leaf and orchard flower....most people smelling from the bottle may like it right away. Do ten to fifteen sprays and then let the bottle sit for about 6 months in a dark cool place, after a maceration of 6 months the smell just becomes lovely....my favorite sandalwood fragrance...unused to own the older version of Xerjoff Richwood, and BTW they use to put Indian Mysore sandalwood oils in it, but since the government has banned the cultivation of sandalwood the fragrance has lost its magical smell and sandalwood is almost non existent...trust me Xerjoff Richwood is 4 times more expensive then Tam Dao ....but Tam Dao is better.....to me anyway. And my GF loves it too..

One of my favourite perfume note, I myself have a decent collection of sandal based perfume. For me Dyptique Tam dao edt is the best, although linear.

@@RiddhiParvez yea indeed. Like many designer niche house here as well difference of edt and edp is not just the concentration of oil, there is difference in notes too. Edp has more notes and bit more noticeable agreed but as a matter of personal choice I prefer edt which is more airy and soft compared to edp hence more enjoyable according to me. Having said that lemme say both are good, one of the better sandalwoods you will find in perfumery. Layer them and they will be awesome.
