Very rightly said Doc! Have seen some artists playing with Patchouli where it mimics some character of oudh in blends. Really mesmerized when the artists tell that it was patchouli not oud. It's the dry down which gives a distinct note. Haven't tried a good nagarmotha oil so can't comment on that but definitely it's a good replacement for oud as it's said in the market....

I can relate to it absolutely. I have Dehnal oud 98 by Nemat that was suggested by you Nikhil bhai and it has hints of Patchouli... I find a lot of similarities between these 2 somewhere in between opening to drydown. The Patchouli that I have is from Gulabsingh Johrimal which is the oldest commercial perfume house of India.

These are natural essential oils. They work their magic in blends with other oils. Diffuser mein kabhi mix karke dekho. Otherwise Patchouli dominant fragrances bhi acche nahi lagte.
