You should not use denatured alcohol or rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol) when making perfume and never use methanol as it's readily absorbed across the skin and is toxic and causes Skin cancer, Lungs cancer and other diseases...

methanol is extremely dangerous for human consumption. Ethanol cannot be sold by itself for industrial purposes because people would start drinking it so governments banned it. For industrial purposes Methanol is used which is poisonous to the human body. For perfumery, they use ethanol with a bittering agent added which makes it extremely unpleasant to drink. Hence you can get bittered ethanol legally for perfumery and is safe to use on skin. Methanol can be absorbed by the skin and is poisonous so please do NOT use methanol!
