Thank you for covering the subject of Sandalwood which is such an integral perfumery substance since the very beginning of the history of perfumery.

Hi @BK Scents. Could you make a video explaining other synthetic woody ingredients like Cedroxyde, Cedramber, Kephalis, Kohinool, Timbersilk and Sylvamber? Thanks in advance for considering it, even if you decide against it. Cheers.

I have visited the Karnataka Soaps & Detergents factory where they extract Indian sandalwood oil. (They have a Monopoly in India). The equipment they used seemed pretty old and leaky and the smell of Sandalwood was everywhere. The smell is extremely buttery and sweet gourmandish. I haven't smelled the Sandalwood Oliffac though so can't compare.

Hi @BK Scents, I have been using bacdanol and I like it too much, I was checking IFRA and it has no restrictions, but can bacdanol be used in large percentages like ISO E SUPER, let's say use it in 20% of the finished product?

Javanol is like 5-10x stronger than bacdanol. Javanol is effective in traces to 1-2ppt for an effective sandalwood note. It's wicked strong and very long lasting....

Hello Bk scents I really liked this video and I intend to make an essence of Sandalwood for candles, which would be the most specific materials for this purpose. I'm thinking about buying: Sandalore Ebanol Bacdanol Santaliff IFF Javanol Wood Base Mysore (Firmenich) Would you be so kind as to give me an idea of the approximate composition I could make with these products? I have a very old Sandalwood oil whose label said: "Ess. de Santal indes orientales Macassar", from the Naarden brand, I've already looked around, asked in Basenotes and nobody could tell me what it was, do you know this product? Thank you very much. Best regards.

Javanol is super strong, I would dilute it further to like 1-2%. The other materials you can do it at 10%....or you can use them neat. It really depends on how large/small your trial batch sizes are working with to dose these appropriately.

Thank you for your videos! I have learned so much from them. I purchased Javanol from Perfumers Apprentice, and diluted to 1.0% with 198 proof grain alcohol to create a one molecule scent. I was expecting a creamy sandalwood, but I got a strong piercing piney laundry smell. I am wondering if I should dilute it again to 0.5%, as it may be too strong at 1%, or should I go up to 2%? Any suggestions or opinions is appreciated. Thanks!

A 1% dilution is fine. Try using it in a blend around 2 to 5 parts per thousand in a full perfume formula to see how It does in a full blend

I dont know anything about this stuff but i ordered a few things to add to some soap recipes. I ordered some bacdonal amd when i got it i smelled it and was like why did i buy this shit. I never went back and looked at the description given from the place where i bought it from. Annyways what i got smells nothing luke sandalwood, its notvery strong either. It smells like egyptian musk to me, like exactly the same as a generic bottle of fragrance oil labeled egyptian musk. If anybody reads this do you think i got ripped off? Have any suggestions of where i should buy ingredients from?

When ever you order anything, give it time to site for at least a day. The heat from shipping has an effect. Luckily letting them sit in cool environment helps restore them. I’ve gotten oils I was certain were spoiled, but have them a year later and they smell amazing. Also dilute synthetic replicas. Don’t smell them straight, especially right out of the package. It may not be an exact replica, but they will smell much closer in dilution.
