Pergamum: Dealing With The Devil

The church of Pergamum was located right in the middle of Hell’s headquarters. Living in the shadow of Satan himself, the smell of satanic influence was everywhere. Satan may have visited other towns, but he made his home in Pergamum and this was his neighborhood. Just like Pergamum, the Church today is always going to be dealing with the devil. The lesson we need to learn from this church today is how to deal with the devil and not succumb to his tactics and schemes. So as we dive into this section of Scripture, we’ll learn that lesson by looking at three specific things Jesus addressed in His letter to the church in Pergamum.

I absolutely LOVE Dr. James and his preaching; have been tuning in for near 15 years now, and also tithing there. Yet----I was so shocked by this vid (as was my husband), I had to stop it at one particular moment and re-watch it. I say this with all due respect, and "in gentleness and love" (and for the sake of striving to keep the spread of germs in the world, down....)-------Dr. James finally had a handkerchief, and used it several times, for his long-standing dripping nose! 🙌 Please tell him THANK YOU from we saints here in NC----and I pray everyone that worships there thank him for finally using one too! Positive reinforcement! 😁

Always, I find occasion to revisit Genesis: every generation has to dig its own wells. For the church, there has never been a time wihout strife against error. It was poised to strike even in Jesus day, and hit almost instantly on the heels of ascension. The opening of Galations was muted in translation for example: it could well have opened 'you idiot galatians...' I note fear is the opposite of faith: the two don't occupy the same space at the same time. So whether it's this JM message or another, know what we are best made for and meditate on that: the power of love and a sound mind. When in doubt... praise God: it's the stone that cracks the glass dome of fear and disarms the strange lights that play upon it, That's some unfinished thinking... but the rest lies in "Whosoever will, let him come". All yours, and from the Lord -I'm just one man. God bless.
