As a trans man it was probably one of the worst things I had ever watched on tv, I've been outed many times and in one situation my own life could have been at risk. The absolute depravity of Varner to do that to Zeke still makes me sick, but the other contestants reactions and backing Zeke up gave me a lot of hope too. It's not the way I would've expected the first trans survivor to "come out" but in the end I think a lot of people gained sympathy for trans people in that moment.

Moments when this show is the best are when we get to see the contestants as real people. Everyone standing up for Zeke. Ben discussing his PTSD. Jenna going home to her Mom. It does so much more for me than the drama. The drama is entertaining, but the human moments are touching in a unique way.

Watching David's transformation from this timid guy out of his element and way over his head to the biggest social and strategic threat to win the game right up until the final four was incredibly moving for someone who has struggled with anxiety, depression, and other forms of self-defeating mental and social issues throughout most of their life. I remember that episode like I watched it yesterday, of all the things that I have seen on survivor, that one still is in my mind. Now, I'm a fairly conservative person, but even I would have given and treated Zeke like a normal person even if I knew, but Varner crossed the line by a mile by outing him like that. Even if it seems wrong to me to change genders , I'd never out someone just because they're Trans, because everyone deserves basic decency and dignity no matter who they are and who they love. Post script: sorry if I offend anyone with what I've said, but this is just how I feel and even is entitled to their beliefs
@tidesbreath2 жыл бұрын
@@cb41503 Hi Chase! I was browsing the comments and just wanted to ask you about your feelings about the topic, if that's alright? I'm just curious about how your position on trans people has been formed. I'm trans and in my experience with talking with people who struggle to support or understand it, their struggle is because they apply transness to themselves. They think "well I don't want to be the opposite gender. I'm very happy as I am; I can't imagine changing!" So in a way, the idea of changing feels wrong because your identity is so certain. I think the real way to perhaps understand it more is to imagine if you had that same certainty, that same unquestioned connection, but you were surrounded by people who for whatever reason told you that you were wrong. That's kind of the crux of what being trans feels like, because the identity of being trans is centered around how other people view you differently than you view yourself, so you need to change yourself externally to help people recognize your identity more. I totally understand if this still doesn't really help haha, it's a hard topic to grasp when you're not the type of person in question. And you seem really open-minded despite not personally agreeing with the topic. I hope you continue to support others, in this case Zeke but anyone else you meet that's trans or non-conforming as well, and that what I've said can help you understand a bit. If not then no worries. Just keep having an open mind and respectful heart 😁

I think Adams story in Gen X vs Millennials is part of the reason why that season is one of my favorite recent seasons. It’s one of the very few times that I was sobbing watching a survivor reunion show (granted I was also watching it at 3am so that didn’t help.) I’m super happy you included it in this video!

When I first saw the thumbnail for this video, I thought it was gonna be a tribute to all the castaways who are no longer with us. Anyway, great video as usual and RIP Rudy.

The first time we met Rupert....( I can't recall the season....but there was some sort of 'pirate' theme going on...)...and he stole the other tribe's shoes.....LOL

I never post on KZbin videos. But I had to reach out and say that the ending of this video was so incredibly touching and eloquently written. Thanks for the touching moment and reminding me about Adam’s amazing story

Loved the videos and channel. Just found it within this month. One of my favorite interviews was with David from Adams season where, to paraphrase, he talks about his anxiety becoming a burden and how his fear of death became a fear to live. I seriously teared up at that.

If this video was uploaded like a week later this definitely would've included the scene from today's episode where after tribal council, the scene of in memory of Rudy. Truly a powerful few seconds for me and my mom watching.

the first time I watched Adams season was the first time a show has ever made me cry, and I still start crying every time I hear him talk about it. He’s such a strong person and one of my if not my favorite players.

This show has done so much for me as a person, throughout the entirety of my life. It’s nice to watch this and know we all share these feelings. The intensity and positivity and negativity and everything in between of the human condition. Thank you for making these videos, it really makes a difference to be able to share such an important show with such a big group of people. ❤️

Honestly cried during the hammock scene and FTC with Adam. So no disrespect, but I hope we don't have to hear him cry about his mom all of season 40.

webapp31 Agreed. I feel for the man and relate on a level with him and cried with him during those scenes too but I really hope he doesn’t use it as a poor me story line all season.

i made a bad decision by watching this in public :/ but more seriously i agree with all of these moments. i've never been able to rewatch Kaoh Rong because of caleb's evacuation. it's too emotional and reminds me too much of how i've come so close to death as well. when ben's ptsd was triggered by the bamboo, i understood how he felt as i also suffer from ptsd. it never gets easier. the same fear floods me everytime and it's awful but there is no cure, just things i can do so it happens less often. when zeke got outed at that tribal, that was my own nightmare coming to life. i'm terrified that i'll be outed to my parents and who knows what will happen then? will my mom kick me out immediately or will she just start hitting me? being outed is my greatest fear and seeing that happen to someone else, someone i looked up to in a sense, it terrified me to no end. although on the flip side, it gave me someone i could actually look at and say: "that's me". at long last i had found someone from my favorite (reality) show that i could finally look at and see myself in them. for that reason i'm glad that zeke was outed but for every other reason i'm upset about it. coming out is extremely important and an intimate thing for any queer person to do. for that to be taken away from you is awful. your rug, that you've finally found and you feel is perfect for you, suddenly gets ripped out from under you and now you have to pick up the pieces and hope that others will come and help you. i'm not good at ending things so i'll just leave it here. rest in peace rudy, we'll miss you.
