Thanks Mike. I would like to facet more peridot. Obtaining sizable rough can be an issue to obtain in Australia.

Beautiful cut, Cliff. That piece of peridot is beautiful. I'll admit to holding my breath when you were working on the crown... You made it look easy. Thanks my friend.

Thanks John...The crown was not easy, but I'm happy with the end result.

Cliff, I'm glad to see your fantastic videos again, thanks . Only once I had the opportunity to cut peridot, there were no problems behaved beautifully, the only problem was due to the inclusion of 0.7ct I got final 0.15ct

I so look forward to viewing your videos. I am sadly the sole facetor at our gem club at the moment as membership has dropped due to Covid and other factors. Therefore I watch all of your videos to get fresh ideas and to learn some finer points from you. Cheers Wendy

Further to my comment. I have tried unsuccessfully to preform by hand like you and appreciated the comment about the grit on the lap to use when preforming.

Nice. I've got an Esquel with similar facets that I purchased several years ago at the Westward Look Gem Show.

Peridot is my Birthstone and yet it's my worst gem for faceting. I always find that it seems to have "directional hardness" causing 2 or 3 facets to always scratch when prepolishing/polishing. I have since pretty much overcome this issue but Peridot can be finicky.

I love these videos and I hope I can learn how to facet soon :) so inspiring

Nice facet, however that did not look like the Pakistan peridot that I am used to, it seems more yellowish?

Beatifull stone Cliff! Can you tell me the difference between peridot and olivine, if any? I see you bought the same pack of discs as I!
@VintageTimeGems2 жыл бұрын
The thinks it's the same. Olivine tends to be a granular often looks like a green sand once broken down.

sorry Cliff I have to disagree with it being one of the easiest stones to facet, because there can be a soft side and a hard side which makes it easy to over cut so care has to be taken with regards to pressures used for each facet it is not on all stones but just be aware of this.
@VintageTimeGems2 жыл бұрын
I've never had an issue with peridot. It has a soft feeling whilst cutting.
