Periglacial Cycle was given by Peltier in 1950, a time when the concept of cycle of Davis was contested and discredited.
Periglacial regions are different from the glacial landscapes. Such regions are characterised by frost shattering, congelifluction and congelifraction processes.
The periglacial cycle starts with frost shattering that forms cliffs at the base of slopes and further down aggradation valleys are formed.
The final landscape is an extensive erosional plain called cryoplains
